A wonderful dram! Deserves its accolades.
I've not tried many whiskies from Glenfarclas I must admit. I've only had the 105 which I thought was very nice. So, 25 years, Speyside, Olloroso Sherry Casks, ticks a lot of boxes in my books. But 25 years doesn't mean anything if the final product doesn't cut it. In this case, I'm glad to say it does! It a fantastic whisky. The 43% is perfect to carry the flavours and to help the nose. A drop or 2 of water loosens it and so does letting it settle in the glass for a while. I taste oak, sherry and sweetness. Some cocoa too. The taste lingers in the mouth for a long time after. One of the longest in my experience. It's really smooth which I'm certain has been helped by the 25 years it's spent in a dark, cool cask. Sip it slowly and just enjoy. It's one special dram! Update: Christmas night, 12 bottles of whisky. This was the clear winner as agreed by the group. What was new to me on comparing it with the rest was the nose. I didn't appreciate what a bouquet of smells it was. Special. Really special. Second thing was just how smooth it was. For sherry lovers, this is one of the best. Changed my mind about adding water. I reckon it's better off neat.

Dad was right
I thought long and hard about this Malt. Should I go for the 15, the 21 or the 25? I googled forever and having had a bottle of Glenfarclas 10 (or 12) many years ago decided to purchase the 25, as at any comparison this is good value. I knew the bottle was going to be at least better than most of the 12's, 15's and 18's I have tried, but this 25 is sublime. I cannot give the description the same level of granularity as a Jim Murray or similar, but I can say that smooth, honey-like nectar sweetness married to the obvious hit a solid whiskey will bring is an addictive marriage. The aftertaste is also remarkably comforting and as it dries a floral lightness comes through. I love it and will probably end up drinking this too quickly. However, at this price, it is a steal vs the others of a similar age. This was also my fathers favourite malt. I am now seeing why. Glenfarclas, long may your process remain traditional, and prices afford the masses a taste of what phenomenal aging and optimal casking can deliver.

My god, this is what it sais it is
After the reviews I was abit worried because people were saying completely different things, but I can tell you, it really is enjoyable, has an absolute lovely leather taste to it, which I know from experience You don’t get with 12 or 15s, some 18s have it, brut either way you really do cut it fine with this one for value for money After a few drams you you’ll be glad you spent the money

Wonderful!
Each nosing and sipping delivers exquisite, stylish and flavourful complexity in luxurious form. My only slight issue with the 25 is that it's probably spoilt me a bit for my usual go to whiskys. It's tremendous!! Review 2: Have had another bottle of the 25. All I can say is....it’s PERFECT. It’s just got everything you’d want from a scotch of this style. Simply amazing... Review 3: 3rd bottle just arrived. Poured myself a measure of this wonderful scotch. It is a truly exhilarating dram to nose and the flavour remains as magical and alluring as ever. It possesses the exuberance of the young members of the Glenfarclas range coupled with the developing magisterial overtones of the older members of the family. Magnificence in a bottle.

The 4.5* average is fair. It smells nice, and tastes great.
To be honest, it's really what I was expecting. On the nose I find it respectable, but actually not incredible. You get some honey and some sweetness, but even sniffing the bottle it's incredibly difficult to find much more. It doesn't smell bad, just nothing stands out. The taste though is delicious, it feels thick on my tongue, there's a subtlety of the sherry casking that remains constant whilst never overpowering (yick @ Kavalan Soloist), and the oak is present without being overpowering. There's the taste of nuts / ginger / honey / with gentle oak, malt and tobacco. It feels good and I can taste it minutes later. I'm not sure it has a prominent taste profile, instead it balances several flavours really well. All this said, there's a reason you can find a 25 y/o at £100, and that's because that's where this whiskey belongs. It's better than Glenfiddich 18, but it's not as good as Glengoyne 21 or Glenmorangie's Signet. It's not smooth enough to compete with the less complex Glenfiddich or the more complex Signet, whilst it lacks the distinction of the Glengoyne's cinnamon spice and toffee flavour. That's not to say this isn't a yummy and delicious whiskey, and I think the £100 paid is a fair price, and this is a delicious whiskey, pretty much what I was expecting (better taste wise, worse smell wise). So don't turn your nose up at this pleasant drink, but don't fawn over it either. It's a solid, respectable, reasonably placed number.

Perfect whisky
I tasted this at a local whisky group and fell in love with its taste, aroma and look instantly. I can not stress how nice this tastes either over ice, with a touch of water or just out of the bottle. I would 100% recommend this to anyone who wants to get a whisky lover a beautiful gift.
