For the steep price tag (msrp) listed what kind of features does this stop watch offer??

I use it to coach xc and track; I truly enjoy my seiko; it's my security in knowing I can get accurate and immediate help...been coaching 50 years favorite stop watch

Does anyone know what type of battery this stopwatch takes?

I kept mine running for years after the first battery died. I carefully opened it up, especially taking care to protect any o-ring seals. Once you open it up, you can easily remove the battery. I took mine to a watch repair area of my local mall in Phuket, Thailand. They had the batteries in stock. I installed the new battery and put it all back together. I suspect this method is not recommended by Seiko. Probably the best solution would be to find a good dive watch repair or battery replacement place. They would be more used to dealing with seals and o-rings. They could easily sort out the battery needed. If all else fails, you might be able to get Seiko to do it. I didn't try that, but it might be an option. The other option would be to buy a new stopwatch. I loved mine.

Does it have the ability to recall the final split when you stop timing? Or do you have to do the calculation yourself?

When you hit stop it only gives you the final time. so you would have to calculate the last split.

How much time stop watch offer?

I use this watch about 275 days a year and around 7 hours a day as a jumper judge at horse shows great watch
