Under rated
Reolink is underrated. I installed 2 x12 TB HDs (Seagate Skyhawk AI 12tb HDD 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 7200PRM 256MB Cache for NAS Internal Hard Drive for DVR NVR Security Camera System AI Application Optimization (Renewed) ). Setup was plug and play. Picture quality depends on the camera. I've got 3 x REOLINK Duo 3V PoE, 5 x REOLINK RLC-1240A First 12MP Vandalproof PoE Security Camera,145° Wide, 1 x REOLINK Video Doorbell PoE Camera and 1 x REOLINK Video Doorbell WIFI Camera. So the picture quality is great, with easy zooming. I used the REOLINK RLA-POECS1, Waterproof PoE Combiner & Splitters to setup 6 cameras. That means less wires around the house. They needed a POE switch so i used Reidubo 18 Ports Gigabit PoE Switch,16 Port Gigabit PoE+ Network Switch with 2 Uplink Gigabit Ports, 250W. All items purchased here on Amazon. Everything works together perfectly. and can get setup just for local viewing or directly to your phone or computer. The Doorbell camera do setup to my Alexa Echo Show. You have to scan the QR code on the back of the camera and set it up before installing. Any of the time lapse or doorbell features that activate on the echo show need to have that setup. The user interface is very user friendly. I bought everything with a dome and most are installed on the wall mounts. Everything is compatible and good heavy metal. So far durable and i waited for sales so absolutely worth every dime spent.

Very nice NVR with lots of features
Overall the features of this NVR are good for recording Reolink cameras and playing back video. You have the option to select the events you want to see, people, vehicles, animals, or all motion. The set-up is easy. The one feature that caught me by surprise was that the NVR acts as a DHCP server and reassigns the attached cameras to its own subnet. This causes issues trying to to use rtsp. The software has a defect, when the NVR is rebooted, cameras randomly do not reconnect, which are on that subnet. WiFi cameras always reconnect, just the wired cameras have the issue. I sometimes have to unplug and replug a camera several times to get it to be reconnected to the NVR. I have multiple camera models, and this issue happens with all of them. Update: March 31, 2025 - The reconnection issues have been resolved. Support had me upgrade to the most current firmware. Also, I reconfigured my LAN so that all of the PoE switches now connect directly to the back of the NVR. All of the cameras reconnect now just fine after a reboot. The latest firmware also has some nice enhancements. I am changing my rating to 5 stars.

Ethernet ports on the unit do not power PoE cameras...
First BEWARE buying this. Out of the box. The unit does not support powering PoE cameras over an Ethernet cable directly connected to the unit. Description says it supports PoE cameras. But written in the obscure details at the bottom in fine print, "Ethernet Ports: No PoE Port;4 x RJ-45, ". Meaning it will not power a PoE camera. I saw in the reviews you will need a separate PoE switch to power them (not included). Unit works well. Easy plug and play camera access. I didn't see a lot of extra features. Connected to Rio 3 wifi camera. gave me 3 views wide, 1:1, pan. Zoom is ok but don't expect to get up close to an object. Maybe that is just the camera. Video looked like it had High Compression so a lot of detail lost. I see Reolink as an average, medium quality camera system. Maybe priced at or a little over quality.

Best NVR on the market.
I mistakenly bought this thinking it had PoE, but realized its better that it doesn't. It has 3 bays for HDDs and I am running 12 TB of storage with 6 cameras, and ready to add even more. It has up to 32 channels which is more than enough even for a business. Been using it for 7 months now and I am very happy with Reolink products. I keep going back and forth if I want to switch to Unifi Protect, but Reolink just makes it SO EASY to use. Once you plug in a camera on your network, the NVR automatically detects it, it asks for its username and password, and then its added to your NVR. CCTV and Security doesnt get easier than this.

Handles 16 Cameras with Ease
Works great with two PoE switches and 16 cameras, all connected seamlessly. The app runs smoothly for remote viewing and provides reliable performance.

Great hardware with serious software flaws that lead to security risks
Great hardware but no point if the software is unreliable Please read so you don't spend days laying Ethernet only to be disappointed by the poor Reolink software. There are issues with push notifications not coming, bad user design, and no warning if a camera goes down. Push notifications I depended on Reolink to alert me in the event of motion. It turns out they are not at all dependable. After four days of proper operation, the app stopped sending notifications. I tested by walking in front and observing consistently that the footage was captured on disk, but no notification was sent. Everything was set correctly, yet no notifications came. I am not a security guard watching the cameras all day. I need notifications when I indicate that they should be sent. Avoid Reolink because their undependable notifications will put you at risk. Poor user design Admins can create accounts for standard (non-admin) users to access the NVR in a safe fashion. Say I want to allow a standard user to receive push notifications, such as a detected motion event. Sounds easy, right? Reolink NVRs cannot even do this simple task. Their customer service says the only way is to let other people login with the admin account in order to enable push notifications. This has been a problem for over two years now, and I doubt they are even working on a fix. Look up "reolink push notifications operation failed". That is right: if you attempt to activate push notifications as a standard user, you get a nice error message stating "operation failed" which is how it has been since 2021. Avoid Reolink because they want you to share your NVR by letting other people login with the admin account. No Video Loss Warning If one of your cameras is disabled, there is no way to get notified of this. You will find out eventually when you check the feeds and have no idea when it went down.

Figured this was a cheap affordable NVR that would fit the bill. The http web interface is unable to display the stream of all onvif cameras we have. We tried playing with the codecs (h264, no h265, no smart encoding..) but never worked. The NVR was able to record the streams and display them on the screen connected to the device! Can only assume this is made for Reolink products only.
