TONE Plug Socket Set PG86S 3/8" Inch Drive 14mm 4-Piece

This made changing the spark plugs so much easier on my forester. These are the exact right length and have a great base for hand turning or turning with a wrench if needed. The one tradeoff this makes is that these don’t latch tightly to each other or with attached sockets. This makes them easy to latch into things like inserted spark plug sockets, but also makes it harder to pull the spark plug socket out after tightening a new plug. On at least one, I had to swap these for my craftsman extensions just to extract the socket plug. I’d still rather have these than not, though, as they make everything but the final extraction a breeze.

Very high quality tool. I also purchased the competitor’s socket (Koken 3300cz); Koken is also excellent Japanese quality. The Tone socket is slightly shorter (about 4mm) but the plug sits higher in the socket (on Tone). This means the set up set up is slightly taller when using the equivalent size extensions (however equivalent Koken sockets have the ability to wobble. Space being the final determinant, I will/would use the 2” koken wobble extension with the Tone Knuckle and the Koken socket though either set up will work. If you own a Subaru this product is a must, pairing this with a long flex head 3/8” drive that’s on the thinner side like the modified snap- on 1/4” long flex head with the 3/8” internals swapped in to the head. I’d bet Astro makes something similar to the snap-on ratchet. What makes this tool shine is the 17mm base on the bottom of the socket and extensions make it really easy to turn the socket and extensions by hand or use a ratcheting 17mm end wrench. If you do tune ups on Subarus this is a must have.

Socket itself is nice and works. However, as one Japanese review noted, the magnet is stronger than the extension retention button, so when you install a spark plug and go to remove the socket, the magnet holds the socket to the spark plug, and the extension comes out, leaving the socket in the engine. Returning this and buying the socket alone to go with better quality extensions.

水平対向エンジン用だけあり、完璧です。今まで苦労して交換してましたが、作業時間も短縮され、嘘のように簡単に交換できます。ただわざとだと思いますが、エクステンションバーが緩く抜けやすくなってますので少し注意が必要です。自分でメンテナンスされる方なら是非工具箱に入れててほしいアイテムです。
