I am a heterosexual married man and I despise pubic hair. My wife will shave herself, but I prefer epilation simply because it is much more cost-effective than waxing, and I can do it at home privately. What I have found to work the best is using this device in the shower with an antibacterial soap, such as Dial, on the skin. I remove all my body hair, and yes, some places are more painful than others, but with repeated use, it becomes incredibly easy, and I hardly noticed any actual pain at all. The biggest piece of advice that I have is to trim your hair so that it is no longer than an eighth of an inch before using an epilator. I use my epilator once a week because hair grows in different stages. Hair that is epilated out from the root takes about three weeks to reappear on my body. The fact that this device can remove hair that is so short that nothing else can grab it is remarkable! And it’s true that the more you use it, the less hair grows back! I cannot recommend this device enough. Braun makes an incredible product!

I've been using an epilator for about 15-20 years. In fact, I got this one to replace my original one which is the only other one I had. It was a Braun and because of how well it stood up over all this time, I decided to stay with the brand. Boy, have they come a long way since my original one! First, if you're new to using an epilator, don't be put off by hearing others talk about how painful it is. I don't find it painful at all. Granted, I've been using one for so long now that my skin must be so used to it, but I don't even recall when it stopped hurting (or if it ever did hurt). In other words - it won't always hurt. What I really like about this is the pivoting head. Legs aren't completely straight and with the pivoting head, the epilator follows your body so it makes it easier to get each hair. My first one didn't have this and sometimes I would miss hairs because it didn't follow my body. There's also a light that shines on your skin while epilating so it makes so much easier to see any hairs you might otherwise miss. While researching which model to get, I learned they now have different numbers of tweezers and some are wider than others (also something I never had a choice of before). I like that this model has the largest number of tweezers and is a wide head. If you're looking for all types of fancy attachments, this isn't for you. It's a basic epilator (much better than the old ones though) and pretty much does everything you need it for. The description says it gives you 50 minutes of use before needing to be charged again but I have yet to use it for 50 minutes in one sitting. It really does its job in MUCH less time and in the month or so that I've had it, I still haven't needed to charge it again. I hope this lasts as long as my first one (which still works but some of the tweezers have started to fall out which is why I'm replacing it). Braun is a good product and I don't have a single second thought about getting this model. I highly recommend it.

After owning one of virtually every home hair removal process available - blade shavers, electric shavers, at least two kinds of wax, and having regular professional waxing, I decided to try this. Any kind of appliance has to stand the test of time as well. I'll report back if this doesn't last well. I like this product. First, you can touch up anytime you want, including while traveling. That's a very big plus, as is the privacy factor, especially if you do your bikini area. It's an odd sensation, and not entirely discomfort free. No worse than a professional wax. You just have to decide to get accustomed to it. It seems to prefer shorter hair; so you could actually shave, let it grow out a bit, then epilate. You should trim longer hair first. It does the curves well, like the back of your knee, and it seems to work best with a light touch, so you glide it over your legs, etc. which is also nice. The lighted head is a nice feature to guide you. I once accidentally caught a thread of my clothing, and it came to a dead stop. Once I took the thread out, it was fine again. It recharges with a standard (not USB) wall charger. Comes with a little brush for cleaning, which I use all the time.

EDIT 8-24-2026: Actually I'm not 'a bit saddened' Im extremely annoyed because I checked and realized I paid $160 for this thing to break within the year and that seems absurd. I wouldn't recommend Braun to anyone given the lifespan of this product, especially not for the price. Actually ridiculous. A bit saddened to report that almost a year later my epilator head no longer works. I cleaned as to the instructions—and hey, very possible I did it wrong, I'm not perfect—but still it clogged up into a section of the gears I didn't realize it was funneling into and by the time I started to have issues I just couldn't reach into it and get it clean. The base still turns on but I'm sure fighting against the buildup did a number on it, too. I have pretty thick leg hair. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, and maybe my hair itself is a little too thick and coarse and I need some different kind of model, but I am, of course, a bit disappointed. This device isn't cheap and while I did love it while using it I don't know that I'd recommend to other folks with thick hair.

he epilator works well and removes hair effectively. It is easy to hold, and the different attachments are useful for different areas. The battery lasts a long time, and cleaning is simple. Overall, it is a high-quality product and a good investment for long-term use.

I’ve reviewed epilators before, this’ll be the (fourth? fifth?) one I’ve had. Because much as with any other rechargeable device you use regularly, like say, your cellphone, they get old and you want something newer & sexier. I’d say the lifetime in my experience is about 3-5 years. Be clear here now, we are talking about RECHARGEABLE DEVICES, not relationships with people. Anyway, also as with cellphones, every new one IS better than what you were using before! Now I am no virgin here (in terms of EPILATING 😜) and I don’t know if this one is the best for newbs as there are far cheaper gateways, but once you’re in the epi life, man, this thing is a MERCEDES. It has a vibrating cap that does mask the epilation pain with a more general spread-out pain, and that’s how I got started so no shame with it. I take the cap off now, for efficiency’s sake. It’s comfortable to hold and the head swivels a bit so your hand doesn’t have to as much. And it’s getting more hairs in less time! It also has an electric trimmer/shaver head. I don’t really use the foil shaver, because if I want to shave it, I can epilate it! I do use the trimmer because I do not want to shave or epilate absolutely EVERYTHING. So now you know more about me than you probably planned on, and if you can believe it, I have said more about epilating in particular and a lot of other stuff too, so looking at my other reviews might amuse you.

I didn’t plan on replacing my previous Braun silk epil, mostly because it was still working fine after 7+ years of use and well, it just has to rip hair out, what technology do we need? Unfortunately it took a fall from a high shelf and shattered, so I had to look for a replacement, and ended up getting this newer version. Surprisingly, it’s much much much much much better than the older model I had. The biggest difference is the comfort level. Epilators are never exactly painless, but this one somehow hurts noticeably less than my previous Braun. The tweezers seem smoother and the whole process feels faster and more efficient. In the past, after not using it consistently for a while it would take me 60 min to do one leg, now it's 15! I also really like the grip on the handle, it's much more comfortable to hold. The battery life is excellent and lasts multiple sessions before needing to recharge. The shaver and trimmer attachments are very useful and make the device more versatile than just a basic epilator.

As my first epilator, I LOVED this tool. My legs always felt so much better than with shaving, and in my opinion, it hurt a lot less than waxing. I used it every 2 weeks and cleaned and recharged afterwards. But, I purchased this in Feb 2025, it’s now September 2025, and the motor is dead. It doesn’t work at all anymore. Very sad that I only had it for 7 months before it completely died.

I have been epilating with various machines for 20+ years. I have gone through a few emoji epilators and a few replaceable heads as the bearings would fail after 3-4years. I decided to try the braun 9 as it was on sale this winter and had never had a cord free unit. When it arrived I hopped in the shower and decided to try out its wet dry feature. Useless. I was so disappointed in my purchase. I was going over and over my armpits at different angles and it was not removing hair effectively at all! I gave up. The next day was go time for legs, bikini, and a retry on the pits. As this machine has fewer tweezers than my last I was expecting it to take longer. And it did. But it does a great job! The light is super useful, cord free makes positioning easy, the battery lasted the whole time, and it removes hair well and seemingly with less redness and irritation than my last machine. My legs are the smoothest they have ever been with epilating, typically there were short hairs missed, some broken and not pulled, etc but the braun did a great job! I will probably keep an eye out for it to go on sale again and buy a backup as I hate to be without and in the long run it is cheaper and far less time consuming than shaving. I hope the unit will last longer than a year but I am hairy and my roots have always stayed pretty strong despite waxing and epilating and not shaving. Anyone starting out: it hurts the first few times! I remember thinking my first machine was giving me thousands of paper cuts up my legs. But I toughed it out and used it weekly for a while, then got brave enough for armpits and bikini lines. Don’t listen to anyone that tells you it doesn’t hurt. But for me it is worth it!!

Très hautement satisfaite de cet épilateur. J’en avais essayé d’autres dans le passé mais je les trouvais parfois difficiles d’utilisation ou douloureux donc j’appréhendais un peu avec celui-ci mais je n’ai pas été déçue. L’épilation est précise et presque sans douleur. La pousse est lente et plus parsemée par la suite. La durée de la batterie est suffisante selon moi, ça permet de partir en voyage sans devoir emmener un chargeur avec. Je l’utilise aussi sous la douche sans aucun problème. Les embouts sont démontables donc assez facilement lavables avec la petite brosse qui vient avec le kit. J’aime aussi beaucoup l’option rasage qui permet une coupe nette et sans blessure.

I've had this for quite some time now. I love this. It's a learning curve and you have to make peace with pain but I'm a complete convert. This is now my preferred method of hair removal. It's super effective. Be sure you come at the hair from all directions, it's not like shaving. Take time, do it right. It lasts so long and at this point I grow hair back super slow and sparse. I maybe use it once every couple of weeks. Big big fan. Wish I discovered this way earlier.
