I've always enjoyed making beer but don't consume enough of it to justify making any. Cheese making satisfies my desire to create in a similar fashion. The Homesteaders Supply kit is a great place to start making hard cheeses. There are additional items needed, like accurate measuring spoons, large pots, and weight for the cheese press, but the specialty stuff is all there.The included book is well laid out to give an overview of the cheese making process but is not specifically related to the materials included in the kit. Because of the mismatch, the new cheese maker has to do some head scratching to figure out exactly how much of each product to use. It's not difficult to make the conversions from one style of product to the other but the addition of a simple on sheet recipe in the kit that related directly to the products included would have been a big help. Once you've made the first batch, however, the whole process becomes much easier.I received prompt service from Homesteader Supply. Their website has lots of information on it about the cheese making hobby. I get the impression they are passionate about the hobby and wish to share it with new people.Overall, great purchase experience for a beginner cheese maker.

I was very pleased with homesteader's cheese kit and have made cheese about every 4 days since I recieved it due to the demand of all my relatives and friends !!!!!!! However, unless you love to read I was not impressed with Margaret Peter's reciepe book to much jumping from chapter to chapter ( but I like things straight forward and to the point ). I own my own company so I understand marketing and also was not impressed with GNOW FLGL web site just another money pit where you have to learn to dry fruit's and nuts before you get to the cheese making ( again I'm a straight forward person ). But, I would highly recommend this kit to the novice cheese maker.

Got the kit. Was much less than expected inside box. Seemed quite pricey vs. Contents.

Worked well, easy instructions and everything you needed to produce great tasting cheese.
