Very Easy to Swap Out
I replaced my 25+ year-old Rain Bird zone controller with this one and it was very easy. You'll need to have some small screwdrivers to remove the old wires and install on this one. The specs say it only works with 2.4 GHz routers and mine is the new 4.8 GHz but I found it worked just fine. (My router supports both, I discovered.) TIPS: Mount this next to your old old box and, then, replace one wire at a time....everything is labeled. Download the App on your phone and then setup is super easy. I love how easy it is to open the app on my iPhone and select an individual zone and run time...takes less than a minute. SUPER useful when I'm outside working on the systema and need to quickly flush out a line and don't have to run all the way into the house and into the basement. I can, also, pick all zones for, say, a 5-minute water...very useful after a very hot day.

Looking for an easy to use sprinkler controller? Here it is.
I just finished installing new sprinkler system and had an old rain bird and orbit laying around. I wasn’t thrilled about using those controllers. After doing some research, I stumbled across this RainPoint controller. I already used the Wi-Fi hose controllers and was excited to know they made a sprinkler controller too. Hooking it up is straight forward, easy to follow instructions to connecting it to the Wi-Fi, and it even used the same app. I wish the app would let you create shortcuts to turn on some zones for a set amount of time like it does for the hose controllers. I have chickens and roosters that like to go by my window early in the morning on my days off and wake me up. Sometimes it’s good to just press the pre-programed shortcut on my phone to turn on the sprinklers for a moment to chase them off. However, on a positive note, creating a watering schedule and having it connect to the local weather is nice and convenient. So far I haven't had any connectivity issues. (knock on wood) Another great thing about controlling it though the app is that I can control it remotely. It’s nice having that option. I was out of town once and my neighbor’s field was on fire. Turning my sprinklers hose on remotely prevented the spread of the fire. Having the same ability with a sprinkler system is a huge relief epically since the Wi-Fi hoses controllers are being replaced. Overall, I think this is a great purchase, its easy to use, and I recommend it.

easy to use
Pretty simple to setup and install. Easy to setup a scheduled timer for each zone. Very accessible right on the homepage for "water now" feature. I switched from a pain in the neck, constant connection issue rainbird wifi timer. My only issue so far is the APP. I was hoping to use 1 rainpoint app for this timer and my individual micro sprinkler, battery powered water spigot timers. 2 separate apps apparently.

Replace my old Toro system with this WiFi controller
It is easy to install. The app is easy to use too. I replaced an older toro system with this one. Now I can set the sprinkler without going to the garage. Great when I am travelling.

Rainpoint app? Nope- guess again!
The entire reason I bought this stupid thing, despite the negative reviews, was because it used the same rainpoint app as my spigot controllers (also Rainpoint). I thought at least I'd get the schedule overlap and use data from both- even if the controller isn't the best. Well turns out it doesn't use the same app... because that would just make too much sense. Sharing one set of schedules? No way! That's for idiots who would assume any level of convenience was intended! And besides... it's not like these are products that both use 2.4ghz wifi, are made by the same company, are both designed specifically for irrigation and are both designed to be actuators... it would just be CRAZY to let you control them from the SAME INTERFACE. Why would the same brand EVER have just one app? You know what... Why not have EVERY PRODUCT YOU MAKE USE A DIFFERENT APP just to be fun and quirky and unpredictable?

The app is it's weak point
Unit functions as expected but the app is not only NOT very intuitive but lacks easy means for some functions. Example: If you set up an AREA that includes a certain ZONE, it seems you can't immediately water that ZONE unless you first DISABLE the AREA, go back, press "Water Specific Zones", pick the ZONE, set the Runtime, confirm, confirm again, press Start, wait for the watering to end, then re-ENABLE the AREA (unless I completely misunderstand the app). Whew! The instructions although verbose, leave a lot to be desired. Because of the app I cannot recommend this or other RAINPOINT units that use this app. I DO RECOMMEND that Rainpoint consider having the app reworked.

I finally got it right!
I wanted an irrigation controller that I could control my sprinklers remotely through my phone. I first bought a Rainbird because it said it was Bluetooth ready. Once it came in the mail the manual said I needed to purchase the accessory ($100) item for Bluetooth to work. Kind of misleading on Rainbird,s part. That was returned the same day I got it. I then went back to researching controllers and found the RainPoint controller. I obviously didn’t do my homework properly because I believe I got the first generation controller that doesn’t offer the device to go in days of interval. My water company only allows us to water our lawns every third day. This controller didn’t have that capability. However, RainPoint wanted a happy customer and a happy customer they got. They sent me the next generation controller that also does days in interval. I can now sleep well knowing my sprinklers are going off when they’re supposed to and I no longer have neighbors pointing fingers at me. I highly recommend RainPoint. If you require your controller using days internally then save yourself some time and purchase the right one the first time. BTW - that one is called RainPoint Smart.
