Fire blankets
Just what I ordered

Good to have. Acceptable value.
This pack of four 1m x 1m fibreglass fire blankets is reasonable value at £29 though what appear to be identical products, differently badged, can also be obtained more cheaply. In March 2018, for the kitchen at my secondary address, I bought one 1.2m x 1.2m fire blanket in a hard container for £8.85. Fire blankets in hard containers look slightly better in my opinion but these ones in a soft bag can be hung up more easily on a single hook or nail, though has to be secure as you don't want it to come off the wall should you ever need to use it. The pull tapes in 3 of the 4 that I received were very asymmetrically positioned and in one of them one tape was located right at the outer edge. It appeared to have been removed from its outer cover and refolded poorly so with one perfect example to copy, I made it good and also improved the 2 other aesthetically suboptimal ones. Some reviews have mentioned lots of loose fibreglass threads but there were no such threads in mine. I have 2 garages at different addresses and each is getting one of these, the third is going in the kitchen and I'll keep the 4th one as a spare, but hung up upstairs so it could be used if required. Fire blankets are good for small fires, especially domestic frying pan fires (though not large volume fat fires) but are not as useful as fire extinguishers or an alternative to them. I also have a fire extinguisher convenient for each kitchen and in each garage.

Does the job
This four pack of four blankets arrives in a planet friendly easy to recycle cardboard box. Installation is really simple, find a space on the wall about 3-4 feet away from your cooker. Just use a self adhesive hook (not included) or drill a small hole and screw in a hook Either way hang one of these blankets from the hook. That way it's close enough if you ever it, but not too close it might fall on the cooker. While theres no instructions in the box, in the unlucky event you need one, these are easy to use. Simply pull it out and slowly place over whatever is burning. Don't threw it over because that might cause any flames or burning material (such as hot oil) to spread. These blankets are more than big enough for most standard UK cooker sizes, so you won't need to worry about it not fitting. Afterwards leave the blanket for a while until you're happy the risk is over. You also don't need to worry about any risks from the blankets. That's because these met UK and US standards. Best of all, unlike older types of blankets, these don't contain asbestos. Instead they are made from a specially treated fibreglass. A material can affect some peoples skin, so the makers have included a set of rubber tipped garden style gloves. Not exactly the best things to be wearing near a fire, these gloves will heading for the garden shed. It should also be noted these things are single use only. So if you do have to ever use a blanket, chuck it away afterwards. Plus, while theres no expiry date, they don't last for ever. So you should accept these (like fire extinguishers) will eventually need replacing. Overall? Yes these do have a few quirks and no blanket could ever be as good as a dedicated fire extinguisher. But when used in conjunction with extinguishers, common sense and following a "Get Out - Stay Out -Get Help" policy, they could make a difference.

A Well Produced Four Pack Of Fire Blankets... That Hopefully I'll Never Need To Use
This is one of those items I hope I never need to use, but creates some peace of mind in knowing they are there if I ever needed one. This four pack of fire blankets I think represents good value, as at the time of writing, it is working out at around £7.25 per blanket. Being a fire blanket means very little (if any), maintenance and I'm planning on keeping one in the kitchen and one in our cars. Assuming the blankets are secured to a wall via the metal eyelet, to release you simply pull on the two black straps and the velcro seal will open up and the blanket will come out. If the blanket isn't stored on the wall, I still found it easy to open them up by hand, opening the velcro manually and then pulling a blanket out. The white coloured blanket is powder free and surprisingly large. I've included a photo of one I opened up with the red packing bag placed on it to show some scale. Finally a pair of protective gloves have also been included if you are sensitive to fibreglass. This in theory is handy if you do suffer, but there is nowhere to store them on the red bags which is a shame. I haven't tested a blanket against a real fire (thankfully), but I'm reassured by the fact that these are well made and conform to EU, US and CE safety standards.

Very affordable for that "peace of mind"
📦 PACKAGING 📦 Arrives in a basic brown box. Inside are 4 fire blankets in their protective cases, and a pair of gloves. 💰 PRICE 💰 £29.97 at time of review 😃 I've never had any form of fire protection in my house other than alarms. I thought this would be a siple measure for that peace of mind. Firstly, you receive 4 for just under £30, that is such an affordable price. I think it should be made better known at how affordable these are. They're easy to "install" as it comes with a metal ring at the top and you can just place it over a screw or hook. There are fabric tabs at the bottom, pull down and out comes the blanket. This is definitely an item that is good for small fires and emergencies, definitely less mess than an extinguisher.

Every home should have one
Like smoke alarms I feel every home should also have a fire blanket, it's not so much a case of if you'll need to use it, but more a that you have one when you need to use it. It's an additional layer of safety and handy to have in your car, in the home or when doing any activity that involves fire (BBQ's, Fire Pits etc etc). The box contains 4, so enough to have either a few located throughout the home, or some to share with Family and Friends. We haven't used the blanket so can't comment on how well it works (hopefully I'll never find out) but they seem good quality and look identical to the one that I already have in my car.

Seem like they would work OK.
For emergency use. Haven't had occasion to use them yet, but they seem like they would work OK. I have to wonder how quickly I could find & deploy them in such an emergency situation.
