This bag is NOT from 1979 and NOT finished in canvas.
Miscellaneous description at the bottom of the product page says bags are dated from 1979 and are made of rugged canvas material. The bag is indeed rugged and heavy duty but is dated June of 2015 and therefore made of nylon on the exterior. I wanted the older bag since they are made of canvas while newer ones are nylon as this bag.
