Goodnight, Numbers (McKellar Math) Review: My son's new favorite - I bought this book because I wanted more options for my son's bedtime routine than the two books we had (it backfired because instead of it giving him options, he just makes me read all 3). I really only chose this particular book because I'm a Hallmark fan and had no idea Dannika McKellar was a math whiz or writer. But I'm so glad I took the chance! It quickly became one of my son's favorites due to the cute illustrations and easy rhymes. The careful attention to detail in the illustrations is impressive. The rhymes focus on counting certain things, but my son quickly noticed other items in the pages that were the same number (I.e. 5 rubber duckies on the bath page though the rhymes for five don't mention them). So it heped reinforce early counting and also helped with weird recognition since the numbers are written numerically and as words on each page. My son learned why it was there and started saying "number one and word one", etc. I've had to get creative to add a few rhymes of my own to include the extras he's found and it's so much fun. My son has easily memorized the book and can recite 99% back to me. It's a sturdy board book that is holding up to the abuse of a toddler well. It is priced very reasonably and is the perfect length to keep the attention of my energetic boy. I highly recommend this. Review: Math is Fun and Easy: It's Woven Into Our Lives. Thank You, Danica McKellar! - We love this book! We love Danica McKellar books. She helped teach me. Even as an adult, I struggled with math beyond two-digit division. Math was difficult for me starting in 6th grade, but with the books Danica writes, she makes math fun and easy! I enjoy it again. She presents it the same way here for emerging learners. Your toddler will enjoy this anytime, especially right before naptime or bedtime. This is a great way to settle down. It is also a wonderful way to introduce math. Your toddler will begin to see math everywhere and as a friendly subject, as a part of a normal day in life. Danica McKellar is an actress who began her career as a young girl on the TV hit, "The Wonder Years" from 1988-1992. She went on to co-write a math theorem and graduate summa cum laude from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Math. She continues to act and advocate education, especially encouraging girls to learn more confidently in math. Check out her seven other books. Thank you, Danica McKellar!

Wonderful book!!
This book is so lovely. My three year old granddaughter loved it. She caught on immediately to the "6" also meaning "six"!

Gentle intro to math with sweet bedtime story
My four year old grandson is fascinated by numbers. This is a good counting book without being heavy handed and obvious about it. It is couched as a bed time story, each numeral a part of the nighttime process and routine. It is soothing and easy to read and the steps of the bedtime routine are recognizable and familiar to a child. My grandson likes to count the items that correspond to the text and look for other occurrences, He also likes to yell Wake Up! but that may be idiosyncratic. The parents guide in the back of the book has simple tips to encourage parents insecure about their math ability or perhaps their ability to introduce math to a toddler. Normally it's the books with overt silliness and strong rhythm that pull my grandson in so I'm impressed that this quiet, sweet book can hold his attention.

Phenomenal book!
I love this book SO much! I bought a copy for a friend's kid and then bought another one for the preschool room at church. The attention to detail is really incredible. For example, on the 5 page, you can find 5 petals on the flowers, 5 buttons on the shirt, etc. The preschoolers love counting and finding the sets on each page.

Beautifully illustrated.
The book is charmingly illustrated. However, I had to read this a few times to my grandson to hold his interest. Also, I had to add a few more of my own specific examples to coincide with each number to make it a little more interesting.

Great Book!
I ordered a board book and they sent me a hard cover. I re-ordered and they sent the right one, but in typical Amazon fashion, the book was not packaged with wrapping so corners and edges get bagged up and book arrives in less-than-perfect condition, which isn’t ideal when purchasing for gift. Book itself is really amazing, I think we own all Danica’s boardbooks for kids and I continue to purchase for gifts. I recommend all Danica’s books! My girl loved them at 2 years old and is 3 now, still loving. I appreciate the attention to detail - for each number there are many items in groups of that number to count. Front and back covers have many ways to count to 10. Various ethnicities, as well as dads, are depicted throughout book. Highly recommend.

Bought this for my daughter who is expecting her first baby soon. As an engineer, I don't want my grandkids to fear numbers and this is a good way to start. (My daughter was thrilled with it, BTW.)

I bought this book after hearing about it on a podcast. My son loves this book and isn’t even at the point where he can count yet. There is so much to look at on each page and I appreciate the diversity of the different families shown on each page. It’s also very clever how each page contains the correct number of items to count (Eg - page for number four has sets of 4 objects hidden around the page)

My toddler loves this book and asks for it every night. He also loves that there is a Sesame Street video of Elmo being read to. He learned number recognition to 10 by 14 months because of this book.

Great book, very simple approach to learning numbers- counting things in the room on each page, repeating the number several times and giving you many objects in every picture to count for each number. Cute, fun drawings on each page and overall a sweet, well-written introduction to the numbers our little girl sees every day. A great book for bedtime.
