TWINING EARL GREY EXTRA BOLD 20 CT

This tea is fantastic. Taste great. Nice strong flavor and scent. My only complaint is the bags tend to fall apart if they stay in too long. I like my tea strong so I’ll keep the tea bag in my travel mug. More than once the bag has opened up in my mug.

Twinings reformulated their Earl Grey tea and the result was a very insipid blend. They received a lot of complaints, so they issued this "extra bold" version, which is rare in retail stores. I ordered this from Amazon, and it is slightly better than the reformulated "normal" tea. However, it still lacks enough bergamot flavor for my taste. I can use this, but I will be looking for some tea that has more serious aromatics and flavor.

I love this brand of Earl Grey tea over all others. But Twinings very quietly stopped distributing their old favorite Earl Grey blend. They substituted a "Lite" version that tastes - seriously - like water. It's soulless. If you don't happen to notice the tiny leaf pictures on the bottom right of the box, you would never know you have been tricked into buying the "Lite" variety. That's all you can find in the grocery stores, and even tea specialitiy stores these days. Yuck! So I was thrilled to find this "Extra Bold" flavor - which is really just their original, wonderful tasting Earl Grey flavor. I will be buying more.

When it says " bold" it really is. Flavor and scent are stronger than regular Twinning's Earl Grey, which I find kind of weak. This is now a replacement of the original version for me, will not buy the other again.

Of the 6 boxes (2 3-packs), one was arrived smashed and opened. Although the 3-pack was wrapped in plastic, the undamaged boxes also had the original cellophane safety sealing wrapping, but the damaged one did not. Amazon is not allowing returns or refund request, so I'm stuck paying for 6 boxes and getting only 5. Twinings Earl Grey extra bold is an excellent tea.
