Is it possible to use the table to put decor on without the glass?

Thanks for your interest in Chic Teak. Yes, this table can be used without the glass top. It is finished with a high quality lacquer coat to protect it.

Is it possible this base would support a larger piece of glass to make a dining table?

Thanks for your interest in Chic Teak. This teak root console table will support a slightly larger glass. However, it's only 16 inches wide so it may not safely hold one wide enough for dining without there being a concern of the glass balancing safely or toppling off. We actually do have a number of teak wood root dining tables in different shapes in sizes. Many of them can be found at this link: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=chic+teak+root+dining+table&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Achic+teak+root+dining+table Please don't hesitate to contact us with further questions.
