A heart pounding, twisting thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid and The Coworker ! One by one, they will get what they deserve... Claire Matchett needs this trip. It will be a break from work and raising children. A chance to repair her damaged marriage. A week of hiking and hot tubbing with friends at a luxurious hotel in the woods, disconnected from the pressures of real life. Then, on a lonely dirt road, Claire's minivan breaks down. With no cell reception, the group has no choice but to walk the rest of the way to their remote accommodation. But the forest is dark and difficult to navigate and, hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost. As they venture deeper into the woods, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously, one by one. Are they being hunted? And by what―or who? As Claire's dream vacation descends into a nightmare, something becomes clear: only one of them will return home alive. A taut story of betrayal and survival from New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden that will leave you wondering if there's any way out of the woods… Review: Freida does it again- Unpredictable and dark. - I’ve read almost all of Freida’s books, and this one felt especially gritty. It’s less of a domestic thriller and more of a psychological battle for survival. The "Then" and "Now" chapters kept me hooked, and the reveal of the "why" behind everything was chilling. It’s a quick, easy read that keeps you guessing until the very last page. Highly recommended for thriller lovers! Review: Addictive - I love a good twist, and this had it for sure! Felt almost like a horror and a thriller all in one. Definitely an addictive read! A group of 6 friends decide to go to a remote inn for a week away. The problem? Two of the three couples seem to have marital issues, and it's making for an awkward car trip. Things get worse for the group when their car breaks down, leaving them stranded in the middle of nowhere. The group tries their best to make their way through a remote part of the woods with very little food and water. Throughout their adventure, members of their group seem to start disappearing - one by one. Will they find help before it's too late? I wasn't sure about this one - Claire, our main narrator, was not my favorite. The way she and Noah, her husband, talked to one another was so awful that I had to power through. Freida did a wonderful job of painting these two characters as a couple who are falling apart - the hatred between them is evident with every word on the page. This also did a great job of planting the seeds of doubt in your head - trying to figure out what is going on can be quite tricky! Overall, a great read that's hard to put down. Definitely give it a go!

Lazy Twist Ending
The premise was interesting and I enjoyed the ride, however the twist made no sense, even for Freida. The connections to the twist also felt so forced. This one was a bummer.

A great twisty easy Rollercoaster of a ride!
A really good page turner! I cannot take credit for this, but someone said Freida's books are like ice cream; they go quick and easy! A big twist I wasn't expecting either! If you want a nice twisty suspense novel with minimal gore and sexual content, this is definitely for you!

I Enjoyed It !
This was a GREAT read! It begins with a fact of life that any human being can easily identify with. The author sprinkles breadcrumbs of mystery from the first chapter. Her descriptions enable you to easily imagine the scenes and identify with the different personalities of each character. Strange things begin to happen, which made me wonder what was really going on. But it wasn't what I thought. This wasn't a supernatural novel. But it certainly gripped me! I gobbled it up in three sittings. I looked forward to reading more, every time. It took my attention away from other books that I had purchased. Close to the ending, a true shocker materialized. Something that I could have never expected. The ending was also very satisfying. I highly recommend anything that this author has written. I've certainly become a fan!

Almost a 5 star this time!
This was my favorite Freida McFadden story yet. Fast paced, and with a good cast of characters. Just a few unclear loose ends (i.e. who rigged the car battery, some other logistical moves... don't want to give away any of the plot) kept it from being a 5 star read. Good job, Dr. McFadden!

One by One
Thrilling story reminding me a bit of one of Agatha Christie's stories about 10 people having been invited to a small island and disappearing one by one. Of course Freida McFadden's story is much more up-to-date and much bloodier. I enjoyed reading it.

A lire sans retenue
Encore un roman qui tient éveillé toute la nuit ! Un vrai page turner ! Comme à chaque fois, l’auteur a le secret d’un rebondissement qui surprend ! A lire absolument ! En anglais c’est encore mieux
