Flokati Rug 60 x 120cm

Wonderful authentic Greek sheep wool rug! Reminding me of driving to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi and on that road coming across the place where these rugs are produced and for sale! This was in 1969 when I was working in Athens for Lever Hellas (Unilever) that I used to take that road with my guests to experience a spiritual deep feeling with Apollo and perhaps have a vision of their future too. Also the smell of pistachio's being roasted, the earthenware Greek yoghurt pots and the smell of roasted souvlakia for sale from little stalls...oh! my beloved Greece! I bought too as that's easier on the washing machine, however we measured it wrong and will come back for a much much larger rug come September. For those of you who know these rugs, just to mention that these are not of the highest quality. They are a little light in weight...but perfectly alright at this time in my life. Also to mention that in Athens where the rooftops are flat, people lay out their flokati's and surprise! Persian Rugs and carpets on a scrubbed floor at the end of winter and then hose them down and then soap them in. Stand on them and massage the soap into the woollen material and then hose them down and leave them to dry flat on the cleaned rooftop floor. Nice? I think it's not just a Greek tradition, but the whole of the Levant! Levant? From Greece looking on the map around the Mediterranean to Egypt.

Already written one review , but this is a lovely rug - very soft and it looks good and smells nice . Comes in different sizes and I’ll be getting a bigger one for a different space eventually .

The size was important to fit in front of our hearth so finding this Greek authentic rug which we really like now at a reasonable price was great.

I wanted a replacement for my two old ones and reading some of the reviews which were not great I thought I buy one to see if is any good. When arrive quickly I was very happy with a the quality of the product so ordered second one which is as good as the first one, also arrived very quickly. I am very pleased it.

Product perfect for my need. Lays flat, stays where it’s put and doesn’t flatten if walked on. Value for money

I love flokati rugs , have had them many times over the years. Now I have three smaller ones in my new bedroom on the wild coast of Ireland and they are what I first step on when I get out of bed. They go beautifully with my off white painted floorboards ( which I painted myself as well as the whole room !) .

I bought this to replace another washable flokati rug I had bought some years ago. I had high hopes from the picture and description on Amazon. However, it was more of a yellow-ish ivory colour and just looked very, very cheap. It was not what I was expecting and I was extremely disappointed with it.

Lived up to my hopes of a lovely soft bedside rug. Looks very inviting.
