KJV Sword Study Bible Giant Print Black Tan Ultrasoft Indexed Review: A truely incredible bible, translation, and value - A+ - WOW, what an incredible Bible and value!!! I am so happy with this purchase that I am not sure where to start. I have owned many Bibles, but this one is hands down the best one (at any price) and amazingly at the same time a great value. Here are the features that I am very thankful for: (1) Original KJV with some of the older words underlined and explained at the end of the verse. I have multiple translations, but the KJV is my standby. Also has red letter for BOTH old testament and new testament. I think this is unique and I really like it. (2) Perfect font size (15pt) not too small or too large, easy to read at the end of the day with tired and older eyes - makes ready very enjoyable, this cannot be understated. Also not too big, I have had 17pt and then the paragraphs are too short in width. (3) Amazing study helps at the end of the Bible. There is so much good material here (and of high quality) I cannot overstate this nice feature. The helps are "conservative" in nature and professionally done. It will take me months to years to get through these helps. (4) Unique side-note (margin) thematic chain reference system. Very low profile and does not get in the way, but allows one to follow a theme through the bible. (5) Superior construction and materials. I have the burgundy bonded leather with no thumb index. The leather is high quality and nicely worked. The paper is high quality - it is thin, but expected with a large print bible. There is only a little "bleed through", but the crisp, large font is more of plus taken together with the paper. The binding is really excellent, probably smith sewn, i.e., the bible lays flat out of the box. Print quality itself and font style are very good. The Bible is larger than a standard full size bible and is on the heavy side, but for your primary Bible this expected. ** In summary, my favorite Bible and favorite book of all time of course. Hope this review helps. I really would like to thank Whitaker House for the attention to every detail on this Bible and the very reasonable price. PS - my second favorite and most used book (second only to the KJV Bible) is the "Valley of Vision - A Collection of Puritan Prayers" and devotions edited by Arthur Bennet (the leather edition) - I cannot stress how amazing this book of prayers is for the believer. I read them everyday with the Bible. You will see nothing but 5 star reviews for this on desertcart as well. The leather edition is beautiful, small, but with excellent font size and style. The prayers are the most powerful and majestic I have every read - I often feel I am reading the KJV. Review: Amazing Bible 4.5 stars if I could - I have had my eye on this Bible for a while now and I am very impressed with it once it arrived. It comes in a very nice blue and black box that has a little hole to let you see what color you got. I got the KJV Dark Purple Light Purple Giant Print. The light purple color is very nice. I love that. The dark purple wraps around the edge, side and back. The leather is very nice to the touch and has that wonderful new book smell. There are tabs indented on the side, but I probably won't use those too often as I'm not a tabs person. The 15 point font size is great. Very easy to see. I don't have a hard time seeing but you don't have to try hard to read this like some of the tiny font I have in my travel Bible. The words of God in red in the Old Testament are the best thing about this Bible. I did not know God was speaking in some parts. I am reading Psalms now and was amazed when I saw red in some parts that are not quotes. Quotes of God's words are denoted by red boxes. That is such a helpful too. I wasn't sure if I should get the KJV or the KJVER. I'm so glad I got the KJV. The "hard" words are underlined and given a "newer" definition at the end of each verse though sometimes an older archaic word is not underlined while an easy word is. For example in my photo of the first page of Genesis "grass" is underlined. I think everyone knows what grass is. The alternate word is vegetation. Because of this I am glad I did not get the KJVER because God's words are specific and if it says "grass" it's "grass" not anything else. One example of a poor translation was where it mentions meat and has it underlined as food. No this changes the meaning of the word and since it was talking about sacrifice it means meat not food. Cain offered "food" and that did not sit well. So I don't use the underlined definitions too much. The names of God translated are very cool though. You get to see when he was referred to as Jehova or Elohim. The start of each chapter gives an outline, a summery of the chapter and a description of the author/s if they are known. Very interesting and helpful information. And at the back there are many interesting articles and Bible trivia to go along with the readings. Those are all the pros and why I love this Bible so much and why I am glad and think it was worth the expensive price. But now for the few cons. The weight. Well not much can be done about this and it's kind of a minor complaint. With so much information and with giant words the Bible would be a lot bigger and heavier as more pages would be needed. But I didn't think about this as I wanted this as my primary reading Bible. I'm not strong and have physical problems. This weighs 4lbs and hefting it around is like carrying around a college text book. It's not comfortable as lap reading. I do have to read this at a desk unfortunately. The Maps. For an expensive fancy Bible they sure cheaped out on the map section. I have less expensive Bibles with beautiful glossy full color maps with arrows showing travels of many of the individuals, battles etc. These maps are black line art on thin Bible paper. That's very disappointing and the maps should have been full color on thick quality paper. I am disappointed by this. But that's it. Two negatives and way more positives make this worth it. The bad maps is why if I could I would give this a 4.5 or 4.75. It would be great if there was another version in this nice color cover that had the words of God in the Old Testament in red but nothing else. Good maps at the end. This would make for a smaller lighter Bible that probably could be carried around without losing the font size and would be easy in a lap. So yes over all this is a very cool Bible and I would recommend it if you are thinking of getting it.

Beautiful Bible and very easy to read.
Beautify Bible. I love the exterior almost as much as the interior. It seems right that such a precious book should have a beautiful cover. The Bible is printed in regular King James version and is a very easy to read format. It says Giant Print - it is not huge print it is just much easier to read than a lot of Bibles. I don't have any vision problems but I find it is much easier to read than a standard Bible. Each verse is separated, they are not all run together like some Bibles are. The only thing I don't particularly care for is the way that it has " difficult terms underlined and defined at the end of the verse" This would be a great feature but they really carry it to extremes. For instance, it has in at least one place the word Lord underlined. At the end of the verse it is defined as Jehovah. I think that most people reading the Bible are very well aware of that. The flip side of that is that is does define some words that might be somewhat confusing to people. All in all it is a great Bible and a great Purchase. I will definitely enjoy reading it over the years.

Very Happy with this Bible. The service I got from Book Depository was fast and safe. There is so much in this Bible, useful references, and a unique chain reference system for research. The design and cover are lovely to the eyes and touch. I bought it primarily for the large print size and the fact that it is KJV. Yes very happy, and my bible study group are already casting envious eyes on it. Isn't that a sin!

The Church should've had this Bible 200 years ago! It is 100% accurate, easy to read, and comes with lots of Bible study helps and essays upon very important topics that are very relevant for today. I took the time to look up the passage cited by another "buyer" who said they had an issue and this person was WRONG! The cited reference in the Sword Study Bible aligns PERFECTLY with the KJV! This would make a great gift for any occasion, but...I would STRONGLY recommend you buy the giant or large print editions, for easier reading. Gift bibles usually get tossed to the side because the font is mercilessly too small to read! The only fault I have with this Bible is that the pages are way too thin, but for good reason. Nobody wants to be walking around with a Bible the size of a huge family Bible in their arms or purse! Still, they could be a little thicker; as they are now, they increase patience, and that's not a bad virtue to have! :) I, and those in my Bible Study group have been using these Bibles for over a year, and to date, have not found a single error in them! Whitaker House did a VERY COMMENDABLE "job" in preserving the pure Word of God! We give them away to seekers and others, with absolute confidence that these definitely are God's UNADULTERATED Word! We also appreciate the words of God in red in the O.T. too. This Holy Bible deserves that title, as all the "modern messes" or per-versions out there are counterfeit, and as phony as a three dollar bill! They are anything but "Holy"!!! I've written a 33 page manuscript on them, and let me tell you...they're from the pit of Hell! They contradict the KJV as well as each other; they stripped Christ of His deity; they replaced Israel with the Church, they've removed the blood, they've omitted entire verses, and much much more! They are the equivalent to a Jehovah's Witness bible because they come from the same errant manuscript that was retrieved from a garbage can at a monastery! It's very little wonder why the Church is in the mess she's in today...God's Word hasn't been on the pulpit of a great many local churches for almost half a century! In fact, God isn't in those sanctuaries either, because He will only be where His divinely inspired and infallible Word is! Please let me encourage you further...you can buy this Holy Bible with absolute confidence and a healthy pride! I bought them from Amazon this time, just so I could refute that poor review! It's too bad the "Christian" bookstores won't give ANY exposure, i.e. promotion, but money rules over truth in many of these places. It's easier to sell a fake than the real thing, and for much less. There is also a hidden agenda behind keeping these superb and affordable Holy Bibles out of sight!!! The true cost comes at the end of the day, when it's too late, and folks then realize they've been duped. They've had shepherds who were wolves in sheep's clothing, who didn't care enough to examine and to compare the "bibles" they've been using and promoting... I care; I examined very carefully, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Sword Study Bible! Heads up: the deluxe leather bound editions do not contain the supplemental information or fantastic essays, re: racism, "evilution", etc., and that's a crying shame. They're a far cry from these very affordable jewels! I hope this helps!

great for the price. and a word of caution. kindly go through amazon.com website first and note the isbn of the book you want to buy. and then paste that isbn no in amazon.in website. as our Indian version of the website doesnt have proper databases. there are many variants of same sword study kjv bible. ex one is thumb indexed. other isnt. and all the color differences etc. and on amazon.in the book descriptions of the corresponding variants are not upto the mark. ex they say the book has 1500pgs. but the book in fact has 3000 pgs approx as mentioned on the amazon.com website. i dont use highlighter on the papers. the papers look thin. but the font and the look dominate the rest. overall a very classy work from the team of manufacturers of the time honored translation of the Holy Scriptures- the KJV. after all we all got to have one kjv + any other translation we want for further studies. this one comes with red letters in the old testament also! we all would enjoy that! wont we.
