The absolute 'dingos kidneys'
I needed a solution to power off an extension lead that lives in the wife's cupboard, and powers her hairdryer and hair straighteners. Long line of fitted wardrobes, with no other mains outlets nearby - so this is the only place in the bedroom that they can be plugged in. However, I didn't want to risk the situation where the hairdyrer accidentally gets activated while inside the cupboard and burns the house down. I could have build a clunky contraption with a high current microswitch (££), custom-cabled to the extension lead, but this is a lot neater. I use this magnetic sensor, paired (via a 'Scene' in the Smart Life app) with a WiFi socket adapter. It's nuts that the 'signal' has to go through the Internet to their server (probably in China) and all the way back down through various hubs, switches, concentrators and cable boxes - just to turn on the hairdryer when the cupboard door is open, but IT WORKS! Usually within half a second, too.

Does the job
I bought this for my Electric garage door, wanted something to let me know if I've accidentally left it open. I eventually worked out how to set the scenes to remind me every 20 minutes if it was still open, and the app will also tell you if it is currently open or closed. So, it does the job I bought it for. Edit: Seems to have problems connecting to wifi and giving false readings, but can't return it apparently. Edit: Sadly, not doing it's job! Despite being only 3 metres from my Router, looses it's WiFi connection, and had massive delays or no notifications. Passed return date, but no use to me.

Door sensor
I got this so I can know if anyone opens the door to my bedroom when I’m not at home. The device comes with the battery and I did struggle to get the back off to get it in at first but I think I’ve mastered the technique now. I already have some lightbulbs which require the same app so it’s handy to have lots of devices all on the one app. I struggled to find the correct device to add to my account but got there in the end. It’s connected via WiFi and once the magnetic contacts are pulled apart I instantly get a notification to tell me that the door has been opened. You can either screw these parts to the wall or just use the sticky pads that come with it.

Great inexpensive little sensor
I bought this to let me know if I had forgotten to close my shed door and had all sorts of reliability issues with the WiFi. It originally connected, and worked for a time but now I cannot get it to register so it's effectively useless. I even moved the router closer (although I shouldn't need to) and it still does not connect. I would avoid this product and go for a better quality door switch even if it's a little more expensive.

Not bad. Not amazing. Lacks customisation. Disconnects when 8ft away from router.

Very easy to install and use
Using this to check that our garage door is open/shut. Set up using Smartlife app was very simple. Works well with Alexa, by asking if the the door is open or shut. I get an alert on my phone when it opens; I've switched off the shutting alert. Low battery alert not checked. Very reasonably priced and does the job I wanted it to do.

Great
Works great have been using it for 2 weeks now. Doesn’t take too long to receive the notification that the door has been opened or closed

Unreliable
These seem to have totally inconsistent connection, even when they literally have line of sight to the router. Bought a few of them which I am now regretting... The more expensive Panalamar ones seem better.

So far, working better than expected. I recently converted the lights in my basement to smart lights. This is a utility basement for laundry and storage. So, just a few overhead leds conected to one light socket where I added a smart socket. I found it to be a pain to remember to ask Alexa to turn the lights on before heading down there so I was looking for a solution. This door sensor is perfect. I have it on the basement door leading from by kitchen. When I open the door, by the time I get down 2 or 3 stairs, it has already turned the lights on for me. When I come up and close the door, it shuts the lights off. Setting it up was pretty simple. I think that's partly because the SmartLife app works very well and typically finds any new device. But it connected on my first attempt and so far hasn't given me any issues. Honestly, I was worried because it didn't need a hub and the price was very good compared to similar options. I'm very pleased with this.
