THRILLED THAT THIS WORKED SO QUICKLY AND SO WELL!! A MUST FOR CAT RESCUERS AND CARE TAKERS!
This product deserves TEN STARS! I don't usually do reviews but when there is a great product that helps animals and their care takers I'm all in. I tried a similar product recommended by my vet, it was 'No-sorb' but it did NOT work. It was little 'marbles' and they deterred the cat from coming in the box. I bought a new box ($30) and got this product for about $30 with fast shipping at Amazon. , Within one hour my kitty pee'd in the box. It was a dream, the urine actually sits on top of the sand and doesn't mix making it a breeze to use a syringe or the pipe thing included. VOILA! Makes me look like a HERO and it saves the cat from getting that needle at the vet for 'cisto'. RECOMMEND 100% Wish every product worked as good and easy as this one. GO FOR IT!

I always have to use more of the litter = expensive
I wish this hydrophobic litter came in a larger quantity. You do not need to use a lot, but when there is only a thin layer my fosters and my own cats do not want to use the litter box. I had to cover more of the box, so I ended up using 1.5 bags that came in the package just to make it look full enough for them. Because of that, I had to order more of the product to have on hand. I foster and do rescue work, so keeping supplies like this ready to go really helps me save money and time. It helps me avoid running to the doctor for every urinalysis. I test urine at home and I already have access to broad spectrum antibiotics like Clavamox, but I always check symptoms and use several test strips to confirm what is going on. I even bought extra test strips to compare them, because I want to make sure they are accurate. My main issue is that this product is expensive and it is stressful when you need to isolate a cat, but the box does not look full enough for them to feel comfortable. Mine would look at the box and walk away if the litter layer was too thin. Once I spread it out to cover the surface more, they did finally go in. The litter is unscented free of chemically smell. If you use scented litter. STOP it is so bad for a cat’s respiratory and allergies. I also tell people to make sure the litter box is completely clean before collecting any sample. I use a veterinary disinfectant called V10 Veterinary Disinfectant (bought on Amazon). It requires dilution and I let it sit for ten minutes, scrub it, rinse it, and dry it well. If you do not have that product, you can use a diluted bleach ratio of 1 part bleach to 32 parts water. The dilution is: 1 ounce bleach 31 ounces water A 32 ounce spray bottle works for that mix. Just make sure you rinse away every bit of residue. Cats lick their paws and I never want any chemical left behind. I always keep clean litter boxes ready for testing, but if you do not, just make sure you really wash and rinse everything. I also wish this kit came with more test strips and extra pipettes. Use fresh pipettes every time and do not reuse anything. If you lose a pipette or need an extra one, something that worked for me was going to my local apothecary and buying a clean tincture bottle. The droppers for tincture bottles work well as long as they are new and clean and they can be reused once the glass portion is sterilized. This product does work, but you will probably need more litter than you expect, especially if you have picky cats like mine.

Gets the job done
Does what I needed it to do! It's actually very fascinating how the urine just sits on the top. I would say I wish they gave a little bit more litter as it barely covered the bottom of a very tiny litter pan.

Not usable
2lbs sounded like a good amount. Its not. Tried putting in small dish. Cat just thought it was play sand and knocked around. Totalyl useless garbage. See picture for size.

Great invention
Worked really well. My cat used the litter no problem and it was easy to get the sample. The only downside is that the litter leaves a film on cats paws or their coat if your cat is like mine and rolls around it/plays in it first 🙄

May not work for cats with pica
My cat just wanted to lick the litter, he wouldn’t use it to urinate in. Seems to be just a my cat thing based on the reviews. But he also likes to fully ingest plastic bags, ravenously. Long story short, if your cat exhibits pica, this may not work for you. I don’t want to leave a bad star rating but just thought it might help a) the vendor to possibly reformulate or add a deterrent to eating, and b) warn those whose cats exhibit pica.

So easy and cost effective!
I had to use this in a much smaller litter box because there isn’t a lot of the sand, but my cat used it and the urine did indeed pool on the top where I could use a pipette to put it in a vial. The pipette included is tiny, though, so I used a bigger one that I had. I didn’t use the test strips but instead dropped the sample at my vet. Still, it was less expensive and a lot less stressful on my cat, and me!

Worked great, but you need at least 9 packs of the litter, and a smaller box
I was able to get a sample very easily and the test was very accurate as I took a sample to the vet that same day and they said that the card I gave them with the circled results were very on par with what they came up with. You just need to buy more of this sand litter(I had a total of 9 packs)to have enough in the box so the cat doesn't think something is going on. I mean , she did think something was going on but that was after she peed...lol ALSO, it was helpful to get a smaller litter box. Otherwise , you'd have to get like twelve to fifteen packs of the sand litter.
