2004 Toyota 4 runner lock reset sequence required!
No instruction, but the tube will guide you. Pretty plug and play except! You must know the secret chant to get your car to wed its new bit. After install you have to disconnect the battery for a good 30s, re connect and cycle the door locks 3 times to recant the enchantment of the master dungeon key. So that your car will communicate with her new hatch parts. (No really it’s a thing)

Poor Quality
I replaced this in November of 2024 and the trunk began working again with excellence. Unfortunately, around April 2025 the actuator began to slow down and now does not work at all. There is a potential that this is a car electrical error but the fact that this part fixed the problem without any issues for several months makes me think that the actuator went bad only after a few months of use. I am not happy with the quality of this product.

Rear Hatch Actuator for Toyota 4Runner
This unit looks like it's very good quality (as nice, if not nicer than the original OEM part we replaced). It also has a cover on it to keep moisture out, which the original one did not have. The installation wasn't too difficult, but it does take time to replace one of these because of the panels you have to remove. The fit was perfect, and the wiring harness had the correct plug to go right into the original one.

Good for a temporary fix
This unit worked good for 1.3 years, but just recently worked intermittently to not able to close the hatch within the last few weeks. I will have to re-order another unit but with a different manufacturer this time...
