Delicious
These pies have been around for years but grown expensive. The Amazon price is best.

Frey Bentos pies
Personally I love these pies. Pastry is crispy on top and softer underneath. Lots of flavour and enough for 2 people. Meat and gravy is so tasty. Although, not a lot of meat in the pie.

USEFUL TO KEEP IN CUPBOARD FOR AN UNPLANNED MEAL
Enough for two. Useful to keep in cupboard (not a fridge) for an emergency meal. I feel it neeeds a bit more meat content, but cooked in a Air Fryer per instructions is tasty enough with sufficient gravy. For a quick, trouble-free meal, serve this with a green vegetable. Potatoes or Pasta not required.

Not what they used to be!
I used to love these pies and I saw them advertised and thought I try them. Alas like many things these days some bright spark thought they could produce the item cheaper, by altering the tried and tested item to con the public and make a few bucks to pay for the minimum wage hike and additional national insurance. I suppose most will not remember these from the past but us Oldies do. The pastry was obviously made by some AI computer android thick flaky tasteless suspicious pastry that covered a minimum amount of beef, or what purports to be that and had more gristle than edible steak. What a disaster and most ended up in the recycle box, not sure how much biomass it will create either. If you want a decent meat pie keep well away from these. I suppose they call this progress again but to me taste is nonexistent and the contents very dodgy.

I'VE ALWAYS LIKED 'EM SINCE MANY DECADES AGO
I ordered 4 of these with 3 different fillings as winter larder back-ups. The 'best before' dates on all of the cans is for 19 months ahead of the date of purchase, so I'm happy with that. One thing, though, is that I can remember them also being sold in a smaller size back in the mists of time. No more it seems, but I do like them and - being as they fit - I must have a go at cooking one of these in my air fryer too. Eamonn

A Great Dish for Those Not Intimidated by Kidney
I enjoy this dish immensely. Okay, kidneys are sometimes iffy for some eaters, but certain offal is actually good. There may be some liver-like taste to the kidney, and overall I am not fond of liver. This I find much better. The pastry shell over this pie is flakey and tasty in good ways. To best open this "can" I recommend one of the OXO Good Grips can openers.

You can taste the kidney. And the Steak.
I’ve been eating these since I was a kid in the UK. So, yeah, I like ‘em. Unlike some other reviewers they taste the same as always to me. My American-born family enjoy them also. As it was in1970; they’re not the same as mama used to make but they’re a fine meal given they are so easy and fast to cook.

DO NOT TOUCH THIS EXCUSE FOR A PIE
I originally purchased and enjoyed Thus type of Fray Bentos Steak & Kidney pies throughout the 60’s 70’s and early 80’s. This current abortion as bought recently has to be THE WORST EXAMPLE of factory- produced Pie I have ever attempted to eat. It has almost no actual Steak and a minuscule amount of Kidney- the filling did not even fill 1/3rd of the pie whilst the “pastry” collapsed within seconds out of the Oven and was extremely rubbery and in-edible I am from the United Kingdom and eaten many of this type of product/pie many many time!! But this particular pies defies description without using curse words , I attempted to send the same comments to Fray Bentos but it appeared not to have accepted- ? I wonder why

Memory is not always right where food is concerned.
I bought myself 2 tins of this Fray Bentos classic. I have eaten them. Result. I remembered enjoyed this meal in the 1970's while I was living in the UK. However eating one ( then two ) of these tins makes me realise how much food has improved since the 1970's and I shall not be buying them again.

Easy bake.
I was a little disappointed. The crust was not flakey as I’m used to the English way pies are made. But it was enjoyable and arrived fresh. Surprised me.
