The epic Predator legacy continues with this action-thriller set in the Comanche Nation. When Naru, a fierce and highly skilled young warrior, sets out to protect her people, the prey she stalks turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator â leading to a vicious and terrifying showdown. Review: Thunderbird - A new entry in the 'Predator' franchise of science fiction movies. About the aliens who come to Earth to hunt. This is set in the year 1719. It's a stand alone story that doesn't tie into any of the other Predator movies. So you don't need to have seen anything else to get into this. Set in America as it was, the main character is a girl called Naru. A member of a tribe of native Americans. They live a nomadic existence off the land. She's good at tracking. Has a faithful dog. She thinks she's ready to go hunting for game with her brother. He doesn't. But there's something else out there that's hunting things..... I think this is just what the franchise needed. Not trying to set things in motion with stories to be resolved over several movies. But just a stand alone movie that utilises the concept. It does utilise it very well, it has to be said. Naru is a good lead character. The actress does make her likeable. The location filming is nicely done. It captures the feeling of what it would have been like to live this kind of existence back then. It's not a film that appears to have a required a huge budget. Even so, it doesn't look low budget. The cinematography is really good and captures the landscapes well. The cast playing the tribe are all native Americans so that does add authenticity. It does try to give you the feeling of there being an invisible and powerful predator around. One that could strike at any moment. There are times when the score does slightly get in the way of this. But there are others when it is very effective indeed. Although in it's first half this feels like a four star movie. In that it's really good but just lacking that certain something to be really memorable, I found it really clicked in the second. It does open certain things up slightly to allow for it to be more than just the Predator stalking a handful of people. There's some superb imagery in terms of how things are staged which brings some memorable shots. Also, the fight scenes are memorable. Naru is not what they call a girl boss. Someone who could do anything without breaking a sweat. You feel the fights as she goes through them, and you do wonder if she can succeed. Which is as it should be. The resolution is effective. Sometimes films like this seem to have no idea how to end. But this reaches a logical and pretty satisfying finale, without stretching itself out too much. A very memorable viewing experience. Glad I finally got to it. There's nothing extra during or after the end credits. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options: Languages: English. English audio captioned. German. Italian. Comanche. Subtitles: English. German. Italian. Although the actors playing the tribe all speak English, which of course they wouldn't have, it is done properly and thus it doesn't feel like a dub. So that works fine. Or course you could put the Comanche language track on and the English subtitles, if you want the really realistic experience. Review: Great female lead. - Brilliant movie from the predator family, non stop action , good actors , good story, just well worth a watch.

Prey
Prey is a fiercely entertaining reinvention of the Predator franchise, being a period (1719) set Predator prequel directed by Dan Trachtenberg, starring Amber Midthunder as Naru, a Comanche warrior who faces a highly evolved Predator on the Great Plains. A fairly short film at approx 100 minutes, but it does maintain momentum with scenes of tracking and close quarters confrontation. Prey is one of the franchise’s best entries with NO SWEARING, so language is not a barrier for family viewing, but obviously contains frequent, graphic violence and bloody kills. Well worth watching.

This movie flick is not only capable of keeping you entertained with family for hours on end but fluent in communicating the old Indian values of the entire Indian nation. Well done Martin scorszi in producing this with director John Landis who wrote American werewolf in London and Michael Jackson's Thriller like Vincent prices auto dub.

It's been said that Predators have been on Earth longer than most people think, and Prey takes full advantage of this angle. Set in the 1700s, in the wilds of North America where the colonialists haven't yet overrun the indigenous population, its main character--aside from the Predator of course--is a Commanche girl named Naru (Amber Midthunder). Naru yearns for a more active life, away from the tribal village where women do the women's work, and out among the men where the hunts take place. Unfortunately, she's about to get her wish, just not in the way she imagined. Every bit as good a warrior as any of the males, she's going to need every last ounce of that skill, because her homeland is where one of the first Predators to visit the Earth (unless you count the under-appreciated Alien Vs. Predator movies, which don't seem to be considered canon to the main franchise) touches down on the planet. Immediate concern: after the heavy punishment they've faced in previous movies, how are they going to have a Predator NOT go through enemies with just muskets and tomahawks like a chainsaw through butter? The answer is, the filmmakers don't try to avoid it. Most of the time, the Predator just slaughters his way through his foes like a hurricane. And yet, somehow, when the other characters manage to gain an advantage on the hunter, it doesn't come off as contrived. It takes the best the natives have got, but they do manage to get some good hits in there from time to time. And while fast and tough, the previous movies have shown that Predators aren't unkillable. Or will this be the time one of the Predators actually manages to completely annihilate his enemies on all fronts? Great action sequences, great acting, well shot, and boasting a cool new, more primitive look for the Predator, this movie just might be the best in its franchise. Extremely recommended.
