Q: can you use this on soft wood garden furniture

Lynne, I have checked on the tin I still have and the information states that is suitable for treating all garden furniture wood that is not stained / painted. (I think most garden furniture is made from a hardwood.) Another section says to use on hardwood before protecting with Cuprinol Wood Protection. I think it is more likely to soak into softwood a lot, rather than remain on the surface and, of course, washing off with water will soak in and take a longer time to dry.One note of warning: I treated furniture that had been outside uncovered for 2 winters and was therefore very discoloured. It took a lot of 'elbow grease' to clean using green nylon pot scourers and in some areas a 2nd application was necessary. Andy

This is a restorer that is designed to remove signs of grey/weathered timber, ready to be painted/stained/oiled.

Hi, we do not recommend applying this product if the temperatures are below 10 degrees.

Q: Will this work over the top of teak oil ? I have just tried teak oil but that hasn't coloured the weathering so now need a stain I guess ?

It works over teak oil but requires scrubbing in with a stiff scrubbing brush. If the wood is teak, then using two or three cooats of oil will bring up the natural brown colour of the wood which always looks very pale after the chemical treatment, despite rinsing off. Contrary to the instructions on the tin a careful pressure wash to rinse off is absolutely fine with dense hardwood. It does not ruff up the grain and saves a lot of time and effort
