Smart Home Lock, Perfect with Apple iPhone
This is a great lock, especially if youโre an Apple user. Installation was easy to follow, I already had a lock installed, so all I had to do was remove the old lock and put the new one in. All the predrilled holes worked. Great looking lock, slick and the sounds it makes for lock and unlock are pleasant. I really like the HomeKit integration. You can use a key from your wallet to tap and unlock, or even use Siri to lock/unlock. Definitely happy with this purchase.

Love this
Got this because it was recommended by a family member who knows what heโs talking about. It was super easy to install and works amazingly well. The screws were easy to use especially since we were replacing an existing smart lock. It fits the door very well, in fact better than the original lock on our door. Only a few small complaints. 1. Itโs frustrating that to connect it to wifi to use remotely you have to buy another expensive component. While the cheaper one we replaced came with that feature out of the box (the design look use and hardware quality on that one was much worse so itโs obviously a trade off). I will likely buy the wifi component still, but it isnโt absolutely necessary. 2. When the battery is dying itโs honestly not immediately obvious. It seems to notify you with a different sound but if Iโm honest itโs not clear. When the battery is low but not dead the touch screen seems VERY slow to respond and takes longer to open but the phone key and keypad still both work. With full battery the thing works fantasticly and the app and setup for guest codes is awesome. I love it, it was an upgrade for sure.

Prone to getting locked out...
For the first ten months, this lock worked flawlessly. Installation was not much different from a regular, non-smart deadbolt. Apple Home Keys is awesome. The battery lasted nearly a year--I have the Bluetooth-only, non-WiFi model. DoorSense (magnet version) worked well. It accurately detected when the door was opened or closed. The auto-lock feature was great. Then, around the ten-month mark, the lock started falling apart in multiple ways. I won't go over all of them, but two failures stand out. First, the DoorSense stopped working. The DoorSense always thought that my door was closed. I had to turn off Auto-Lock because it would lock the door while it was open. Second, and most importantly, the motor began to malfunction. The motor would not rotate the lock all the way, which meant the deadbolt would not fully retract. If the deadbolt didn't retract all the way, the door wouldn't open. This was prone to getting locked out. If you were attempting to unlock the door from the outside, you HAD to rely on the motor to unlock your door. There was no key. The lock still worked fine if I manually operated it with the latch... which was only possible from the inside. This did not help you when you were outside trying to get in. To fix both the DoorSense and the motor, I tried different troubleshooting steps: * changed batteries * re-calibrated the lock * factory reset * took the lock off the door, re-installed it * made sure the strike plate and deadbolt aligned None of these steps fixed the issues. Not being able to fix the issue myself, I ventured out to work with Yale customer service. This was a less-than-pleasant experience. I contacted Yale via email. In my original email, I included my lock information and my proof of purchase. I asked what I could provide (videos, photos) for them to assess my lock. Within a day, I got a response from Yale. They asked me to email them photos and videos of the issue. I tried, but the videos were too large (above 25 MB), so the emails kept bouncing back. I emailed them back asking how I could send them the videos because it wasn't possible through email. A day later, they responded asking me to upload them to iCloud or Google Drive. I uploaded the videos to iCloud to a publicly shared folder. I replied to their email with the iCloud link. A few days later, they responded saying they could not view the videos. They said that they did not have access to the folder and to check the access. They sent me a screenshot of them trying to access the iCloud folder. They were in the folder, but iCloud was asking them to sign into an Apple account. I replied to the email saying that they clearly had access--they just needed to sign into an Apple account. They replied back saying that iCloud wasn't an option for them and that I needed to upload them to Google Drive or something else. This is when I started losing my patience because they were the ones that originally asked me to upload to iCloud or Google Drive. Fine: I uploaded to Google Drive and sent them a link. A day later, they responded apologizing for the issues with the lock. They sent me troubleshooting steps. These involved taking the lock off the door. They asked me to see if the motor had the same issues if it was rotating while detached from the door. The issues still persisted. So I replied to their email stating that the motor still made the same high-pitched screeches and still struggled to rotate all the way. They replied to my email a day later with this message: "We are sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your lock. We are more than happy to assist you. The videos that you are sending are blocked, we do not have access to them. Please try to send them in a different format." Confused and frustrated, I emailed back saying they'd already reviewed the videos... that they'd sent me troubleshooting steps... that I'd performed the troubleshooting steps... and that I was reporting back the results. Finally, a day later, they replied saying they would look into next steps for sending replacement parts for my lock. This was a few days ago, and I have not heard back from them. It has been over a week since my original contact to customer service. This lock is not worth the money. The issues that occurred when the lock started failing were not minor issues. Getting locked out is a terrible feeling for anyone. It sucks that the lock worked flawlessly during the return window. It felt like a scam.

The Yale Assure Lock 2. Brings a level of convenience and security to modern households. By incorporating Apple home keys, unlocking your door becomes as simple as tapping your iPhone or Apple Watch, providing unmatched peace of mind with advanced Auto Lock and DoorSense technology. Access to family and friends is easy with keypad codes, while the Power Reserve feature ensures entry when your phone battery is low. Simple installation and compatibility with entry doors make it a dependable option. Enhance your home security with the Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus, where convenience meets reliability. I took my time to install it and had a few issues "fat fingering" screws, dropping them, making sure I didn't pinch the cable, etc. Overall, it went in quickly. My favorite feature is the Apple Watch access. It's easy to open when you have your hands full. Also, I love the auto lock for when I leave, forget to lock or my kids do.

Great addition to smart home
Installation went pretty smooth. Did have an issue because the throw of the deadbolt is longer than the previous one, the app kept saying it is jammed and gave error messages. Fixed this by making the hole a few inches longer. Also pressing the Yale logo to lock the door did not work, this happened only a couple times. Got around this by using the app instead. There have been occasions when you need to hold Apple Watch for 3-4 seconds before it unlocks, it's not instant. So lowering to 4 stars but overall I am very pleased with this addition to my smart home.

Great lock
Iโve gone down the road in the past of purchasing cheaper, knock off versions that work for a while, but ultimately fail. However, this lock is exactly what I should have Purchased From the beginning. The seamless Apple HomeKit integration is really what sold me on this lock. The lock is stylish and does not take away from my houses look. It was really easy to replace my older deadbolt with this lock. It Took approximately 20 minutes (This includes a HomeKit set up). The only Slight negative is they have different versions of this lock. Be sure that you get the HomeKit version If you have An apple ecosystem. Also, some of the versions come with keys and home key. Double check before you purchase to avoid having to send it back. The bottom line, go ahead and pay the extra money and you wonโt be disappointed. The ability to use Siri to open your door or the home key is awesome.

Apple HomeKit integration is broken
The lock is convenient for one person in the home, but a 2nd person can't get it working with HomeKit, so they can't tap their phone or watch to unlock the door. The lock can be discovered for normal operation through the Yale app, but it can't be discovered by HomeKit, it just spins forever. I've reset the lock 5 times, restarted phones, taken batteries out, cycled bluetooth, read many Yale and Reddit articles, and nothing works. A lot of people online complain of similar issues. The person can get it working if they're the first one to enable HomeKit integration, but they can't if I do it first. This is possibly Apple's fault, who knows, but this integration is one of the main reasons I chose this lock.

Pretty convenient with an apple watch.
Setup process was too dumbed down too much, that it was kinda annoying. Yale app could be better, it was neither simple, nor intuitive. So what suppose to take 20 minutes, took about 40 minutes. But its ok, since its like a one time thing. Once you have everything set up, and added homekit it works flawlessly. Using an apple watch is convenient. And you can control everything with an apple homekit. *** 8 month update *** This has been the most convenient lock I have ever used. It's been flawless for me, didn't need to change the battery after 8 months. With that said I haven't used all the fancy features of the lock, i.e. auto-lock/open, wifi stuff(don't want wifi) and etc. My usage of it is placing my Apple Watch next to it to open, and pressing a button to close it, I no longer have any keys that I have to carry. I've tried opening the lock with my phone once, and it worked. I highly recommend the lock.
