Special Fx

With over 300 fx on these discs the set is useful for home dvd's, amateur dramatics and fringe production. I paid £8 second hand on Amazon for the four and individual discs are being sold on Amazon for just a few pence ( literally 1p plus postage!). So shop around for best buys. A minor problem is that the small print content list on both the cover and inside the jewel cases is printed over a messy package design which makes it difficult to read and was clearly created by a designer with little sense! Still for £8 is has proved a terrific buy!

Excellent resource for the Primary classroom. Use it for set scene/creating atmosphere.

Everything sound you can think of is included on these CD's. Actually a few I didn't think of were included they are perfect for any kind of project you might be considering.

yes, i like it ... as does our sound operator - he enjoys finding authentic sound effects for our shows.

I kind of respectfully disagree with the first reviewer. The four CDs offer in the region of 330 effects, all of which are categorized for convenience, animals, space, traffic...Whilst you can hunt the internet and download various effects (which I do for my work) but my hands still go to this set initially..I would say that 80% of the time the effect is there on these CDs, I write shows where I need various effects, sirens, applause, animals etc......I am glad I purchased them a few years back, they've saved me time and money.(Whoosh! Sound FX of Plane taking off as I exit pursued by a bear.)

Not worth getting the box set: there are too many effects repeated across the discs, and some of them sound pretty amateur.If you want some basic and simple sounds, check the individual discs, and buy only the sounds you need. Otherwise find a better compilation. (I only wish someone else had provided this advice before I bought them...)
