Very good heater
Very simple install. Very easy to read, and it compares within .5 (1/2) degree of my backup thermometers.

Not as great as I expected
Reading through glass, I was a bit skeptical of the accuracy of this thermometer. I wanted something to easily be able to check the temp, and the old school manual one in my tank is very hard for me to see to read. After much research and review reading, I settled on this one. It has many great reviews, and I trust the Hygger brand. However, it is not as accurate as most reviews led me to believe. It is generally 2-3 degrees off (F) from what my heater control and the manual thermometer say. Currently those both say 78, this says 75.7. Also not a huge fan of having to stick it to the tank with 3m tape, but it seems pretty much every external digital works that way - would be nice if companies could release a magnetic one, with no sticky. I do like that you can change the battery, however the battery door on the front is a bit hard to open, and I feel like doing so will probably rip the thermometer off the tank. Update 1/22/26: the battery in the thermometer lasted almost a year. Just got around to changing it today, and honestly it seems to be reading more accurately than it did when I got it. My in tank thermometer is 78.9, this one is 78.4. Not sure why that is, but it is. Changing rating from 3 stars to 4. (Also, changing the battery was not hard at all.)

Easy setup, but not accurate.
I wanted to like this, and didn't even care about the visibility of the LCD screen (as they are not all easy to read from certain angles). I just wanted it to be accurate, but it wasn't. It read the ambient air temp just fine but I need to know what my tank temp is, and with discus - that really matters. It was exactly two degrees below the actual temp, which is not helpful to me. Thankfully it was inexpensive but do yourself a favor and skip this. It's easy to set up and use, just not accurate enough to rely on.

Won over the competitor I bought at the same time to test before buying for multiple tanks!
I will say, I tested this item side by side against the Capestma brand... Capestma won on easy to read, but that was it. I will say this one is harder to read, but the correct temp is more important... This one showed 73.4 degrees, while the Capestma showed about 74.8... I used two different old school thermometers that are hard as heck for me to read (that is why I wanted a digital one)... but taking pictures, blowing them up, they are both reading 73 degrees, so the Hygger wins! I wish it had the grayed out screen like the Capestma so it was easier to read quickly, but moving around there is always a point at which you can read it easy enough. Save yourself the headache, spend the extra $3 and get this one... this is why I ordered from a couple brands... I had a submergible digital one that I was already pretty sure it was off, it is reading like 78 degrees. I will include pics so everyone can see for themselves. I knew one should work, those weird little black peel and stick ones are pretty accurate.

Luck of the draw.
First one I bought worked fine. I decided to remove it. Mistake. Sticky comes off. Can’t reapply. Second one. Dead. Third one. A replacement for the second. Couldn’t change from C to F. Inconvenient.

Aquarium Thermometer
Accurate, easy to read, battery accessible easily, really not much to not like about it. IF mounted 3 or 4 inchs below waterline it is very accurate does not seem to be influenced by room temp. So I would recommend it as I am pleased with it. I have a 20 gallon planted aquarium I mounted it on side of tank to not obstruct the view but is very easy to glance at from to time to time just to make sure heater is working and set properly.
