Hard and bulky. Doesn't not fit. Hat to remove the foam on one side to squeeze it in all the way. The edges are made from paper, which was like hard and tore the moment it caught on the edges of the place it was supposed to go. There were two tiny handles made from some fabric. They are supposed to help take out the filter. They both were glued to the paper. Light pull on each resulted in them staying in my hand and the fitler left inside the hole without any way of taking it out next time. Super low quality..I tested it to see how the airflow will be and is much more limited than it was with the original filters.

Model Y was approximately 2 years old when a wet/mildew smell appeared, particularly on hot muggy afternoons. Replaced the factory filters, odor was removed, several videos online demonstrating the easy install. Approximately 10 months in with replacement filters and no smell.

The HwaEyem Tesla Model 3/Y cabin air filter is a nice alternative to the OEM filter for those that want to try an alternative to the Tesla OEM filter. It’s priced fairly compared to Tesla filters with about a ten-dollar (or more) savings while also having the convenience of being able to be very quickly shipped through Amazon. These were used to replace the filters in a Model 3. Many Model 3 owners experience a damp smell after their filters age and some even before the filters age due to collecting excess moisture that is sometimes trapped in the airbox. For individuals that want to try an alternative product to mitigate the damp smell or those that just want to try an affordable replacement, the HwaEyem filter(s) have a traditional interleaved side, as well as a side with small carbon balls that is intended to trap unpleasant smells. It may take a couple months of use to truly understand all the pros and cons of these filters, but it can be shared after a day of use that they have no strange smells, and they have not restricted airflow, and the little carbon beads do not make any noise; all air speeds were tested from minimum to maximum. Likes: - The filtration media (blue side) looks and feels high quality. - The carbon beads in their honey-combed configuration are secured well. - No strange smells out of the box or in the air system after replacement Included tools Areas of improvement: - The pull tab does not inspire much confidence at the time when the filter needs to be replaced/removal. - The filter media is a smaller surface area because of the foam surrounding the filter. - The surrounding foam on the filter may potentially be an issue in extreme climates if it weakens or disintegrates. - There are no included directions or arrows on the product to indicate which side of the filter should replace the front and rear of the car. It was assumed that the carbon side faces the cabin, and the blue interleaved side faces the front. While very small pictures are included on the Amazon listing page, first timers replacing their Tesla 3/Y filters should always be mindful of the side of the air filter with the pull tabs so they do not become trapped or hard to remove at replacement time since gravity will drop one filter down while the other sits on top of it. Other Observations: - The filters slightly smaller than the original filter in all dimensions, but most substantially in width. The original filter was 1 3/8” and the new HwaEyem filter is 1”. This may not matter much because of the dual layer approach, but an observation to point out. See photos for pictured measurements of all dimensions. - The filters are not as flexible and more rigid compared to Tesla filters, so placing them into the air box may require a little bit of orienting and positioning. - A slight tug on the removal loops might be helpful to understand if the loops feel secured enough before dropping them into the airbox in the car. If you feel that one filter has a weaker pull loop than the other, the one with the stronger pull loop should be placed in the airbox first – the one on the bottom, since that extra strength may be needed to remove it. Since these are slightly less wide, they do slide easily into the airbox.
