Pretty cool (pun intended)
Gave this as a Christmas give in a exchange at Scouts so I didn't actually get to try it but it looks really cool. I got to see the actual product and, having watched the videos, have no doubt it works. Another scout said they had one previously and also thought it cool. Would like to have a hands on trial. Might have to buy my own someday. It's a novelty but a fun one for sure.

Decent kit once modified
This kit needs a little bit of modification once you get it, but after that it works fairly well. You need to cut the notch back to the center (or almost center) of the divot where you put the drill mandrel. As you create dust, there's nowhere for it to go unless the notch enters that space. I also undercut the bottom of the notch. That allows for a deeper seat and more airflow. After that, it worked just fine. I wished the top handle would stay on, but it's not a big deal to assemble it again once it falls off. It's a great learning tool for kids and those new to this style of fire starting. You get the basics and some confidence before moving on to more traditional or improvised methods.

Junk
Useless bearing assembly, incomplete notches and the notches are too big. The drill tip is too wide and the strings have to be re tied. Its terrible but good to learn on. I used chat gpt to find all the terrible issues. The jute it comes with is garbage. Its too thick in strand.

Learn on this...now...not when you actually need it.
Got this to learn and perfect my fire bow skills. Correction: my non-existant fire bow skills. I figured since I'm a dude and I'm used to the rapid use of my arm moving in a back and forth motion thst I'd be abke to start a simple fire. I was wrong and now I'm tired. I know it works because there's smoke... but no Amber's yet and I'm sure its just me. Not going to count against a proven fire system because I lack the skill to use it properly. Just gonna have to keep trying. In the end, at the very least, ill get stronger and faster at other rapid, back and forth motions.
