Did exactly the job needed great products

After searching and researching for a suitable anchor to hang a short staircase onto a concrete beam I came across these. I was familiar with lighter plugs like the yellow, blue and green you find at the local hardware store. But I needed something more robust and at the same time easy to install. I came across these at home depot but they only had the smaller size. This 2 inch long by 3/8 inch diameter was perfect. I did a dry fit first in 2 pieces of wood. The plug went into the 3/8 inch hole nice and snug with gentle taps by a hammer. I drove a 5/16 inch lag screw into the 2 pieces of wood with a power driver. The screw went into the anchor smoothly. The attachment became rock solid. Then I unscrewed the screw all the way and screwed it back in. This was important to see what happens if you take things apart then screw them together again with the same plug. I was very pleased to see when I drove the screw back in, the joint was as solid as the first time. It was time to hang the stairs onto the concrete header. First I drilled 2, 3/8 inch holes and hammered in 2 of these plugs. Again, gentle tapping by the hanmer is all you need. I then attached the 2x8 wood riser of the stairs into the 2 plugs with 4 inch long 5/16 lag screws. At this point I was able to mark the rest of the holes on the concrete. I then took off the 2 screws and detached the wood riser, drilled the remaining holes and tapped in the other plugs. Driving the screws at the end through the wood riser and into the plugs embedded in the concrete was very smooth. The attachment ended up being strong and as tight as anyone can hope for. Each one of these 3/8 inch plugs can take over 200 kg force (220 lbs). They feel solid in the hand and as they expand, grip into the material whether wood or concrete beautifully. This will be my go to plugs from now on. As always, they are expensive and you do get what you pay for.
