Rock solid with great performance
I have three of these now, a 512GB and two 1TB units. They're all great. Very fast, very well made, but they do get hot. The metal enclosure does a good job of shedding the heat from the chips but it does get hot to the touch especially on writes. It's common to see sustained reads and writes 400+ MBPS and will absolutely hit the advertised speeds for bursts especially with big files. (I have gotten 900+ MBPS on read occasionally with the smaller drive with large files on USBC). It doesn't suffer a dram cache limit like some other drives )or I haven't gotten it to show any sign of that with sustained speeds across the whole transfer). This drive compares favorably to the best Samsung SSDs I have and thats the highest praise I have.

YES, you can buy this one with confidence.
For the record, I am reviewing the: SSK 1TB USB Drive,External SSD Fast 550MB/s 2-in-1 Dual-Drive Type C+ A USB3.2 Gen2 Solid State ThumbDrive SSD-Stick for iPhone 15/16/PS4/Android Phone/Tablet/Windows/Mac First, this thing is amazing, the solid feel of it in your hand lets you know that it will last. The metal housing is designed very well, the cap fits snugly and it really does the job and quickly. The interesting thing about this is that you do not have to eject the thing, like every other thumb drive I have ever had. There isn't even a menu option for eject. It is large enough to do my transfers easily and the copy rate is quick and I am very happy with my purchase. I think for 1 1TB drive this is pretty amazing for the price. I am sure it will be very durable and last a long time. I can Highly recommend this thumb drive.

One of the best SSD USB 1TB Drives One Cany Buy!!!!!
Ok, this is going to read like an advertisement, but I have never been happy about buying a USB SSD before. I will be honest, I bought this USB SSD cause it was low price, was fast and had USB-A and USB-C connector. I honestly didn't give much thought to the device, until I opened up the Amazon delivery package, felt and examined the device. I was impressed immediately and was surprised at its build quality, which I didn't expect. I thought it would be the run of the mill SSD USB cheap plastic device, I didn't know and didn't read that it was built out of High Grade Zinc alloy housing. If you look at the device it looks impressive, it doesn't look cheap and when you hold it in your hand, feel it and touch it it oozes quality. The weight is just enough to let you know it is there, it is a nice weight. Taking the cover off of the USB-A side has a nice friction pull, pulling it off and putting it on, there is no cheap plastic ridge click feeling but a smooth friction action putting the USB-A cover on and off. The USB-C protective cover is a pleasure to operate, again oozing a quality type feel and the markings on this SSD USB device are nice and will not wear with time. I operated this USB device with my PC which has a USB-A port and with my Samsung phone which has a USB-C port, in both cases it operated smoothly and quickly with no issues. On top of this, it came with a very nice leather-built pouch with a key chain holder. This is one of the issues of USB drives, you put it down somewhere and you forget where you put it, the nice leather pouch with key chain means one will always know where the USB device is. I highly recommend this USB SSD device, it is apparent that SSK designers put in a lot of thought into this device from a look, feel, handling, mechanical protection, ease of portability as well as a lot of storage and quick speed as well as port flexibility, having both USB-A and USB-C. I would never think I would write a review about a USB device since all the previous one's I bought were cheap plastic and you couldn't put them on your key chain. But this USB device is nice/fun to handle, look at, store and operate........very nice product.

Great Value, good quality
Good value cost for a 2TB SS drive. Case is metal, has great thermal conductivity. Great for video and file transfers. Keep in mind the speeds are sufficient. A faster drive will produce more heat. Faster is not always good because sometimes faster is also limited by older USB C ports. I would recommend this product

SSK 1TB USB C Drive External SSD
I've been using the SSK 1TB USB Drive External SSD for a few days now, and overall, I'm quite satisfied with its performance, though there are a few areas that could use improvement. First off, the design is sleek and compact, making it incredibly portable. It easily fits into my pocket or bag without adding much weight or bulk, which is a big plus for someone like me who needs to carry data between work and home frequently. The build quality feels sturdy, and the casing doesn’t seem to attract fingerprints or scratches easily. Performance-wise, this SSD does a commendable job. The advertised read and write speeds are mostly accurate, and I regularly see transfer rates of about 500 MB/s when moving large files, which is impressive. I use it to transfer video files, photos, and backups, and it handles everything smoothly without lag. The USB 3.1 interface ensures compatibility with most of my devices, including my laptop and desktop, and I haven't encountered any connectivity issues so far. However, I did notice that the speeds dip a bit when transferring smaller files in bulk, which was slightly disappointing but not a dealbreaker. One feature I appreciate is the built-in security with AES 256-bit encryption, which provides peace of mind when storing sensitive information. Setting up the encryption was straightforward, and the software interface is user-friendly. That said, the included software could use an update—it feels a bit outdated and lacks some advanced features that other SSDs in this price range offer. It gets the job done but could definitely be more intuitive. Another minor downside is that the drive tends to heat up a bit during extended use, especially when transferring large files continuously. While it hasn't caused any performance issues yet, it's something to keep an eye on. A better heat dissipation design would have been appreciated. Also, I wish the SSD came with a longer USB cable as the included one feels quite short, limiting placement options when connecting to a desktop tower. In summary, the SSK 1TB USB Drive External SSD is a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable and fast portable storage solution. The combination of speed, security, and portability makes it worth considering, despite a few minor drawbacks. With some software updates and minor hardware tweaks, this could easily be a 5-star product. For now, it's a strong 4 stars from me.

Easy to set up, worked properly
First impressions of this SSK external storage device are very good. I have had it for less than a day, so I can’t speak to durability or longevity. The device has connectors for a traditional USB port and the more modern USB-C ports. I found it tricky to rotate the cover to expose the part that plugs into a USB-C port. I have destroyed many such parts in the past, so I try to be extra careful. The other end is a traditional USB plug with a cover that can be pulled off. The instructions advise against using cable adapters. This might be an issue if your device has a Lightning connection. I bought the SSK drive to do backups. I use Carbon Copy Cloner, which creates a copy of the MacBook Pro’s disk drive onto the backup media. After I plugged the one-terabyte SSK drive into my 2019 MacBook Pro, the drive almost immediately showed up on the desktop. The CCC program recommended re-formatting the SSK drive. I used Apple’s Disk Utility program to erase and format the SSK drive for a Mac. (Disk Utility comes with all Mac computers.) I set up CCC for a backup. I expected it to take a long time because my hard drive has 664 gigs on its 1TB drive. The backup took 56 minutes. Subsequent backups will take less time because CCC will need only to copy new and changed files. The only problem was that the MacBook Pro lost the connection with the SSK drive. I have had this problem with other external drives, so I do not think the SSK drive was the problem. To fix this, I ejected the SSK drive. After its icon disappeared from the desktop, I removed the SKK drive and re-inserted it into a different USB-C port. I resumed the backup and it finished with no further problems. I do not know if putting the SSK drive into a different port solved the problem. As an added bonus, the SSK drive comes with a nice case that can be put on a keychain. So, I would say so far, so good. Again, the manufacturer recommends against using cable adapters or multi-port adapters. So, make sure your computer has one of the two ports that the SSK drive fits.

High quality and super fast
Mind blowingly fast transfers. I put files on this and I have to check if they are on because it takes literally no time to transfer. It's just there instantly. Very sturdy, very quality build and I've never had an issue. Not one of those things where you unbox it and it's plasticky and flimsy. It's all metal and rubber construction. Caps fit well, aren't falling off, or rattling around. No files dropped or corrupted. Heats up, but never slows down or fails because of this. Highly recommend! I'm including a picture of it plugged into my dusty computer so you know I'm not an influencer who was paid to say this.

High Quality Device With Blazing Write & Transfer Speed
Over the years, I have purchased dozens of thumb drives, micro SD cards, and other small storage devices. These have covered the range of brand names to non-brand names and offering storage from 2gb to 2tb. As is often the case, the advertised specs often do match real life performance. This thumb drive is different. I regularly transfer multiple large files between desktops, cell phones, tablets, and such and so I have a good idea of which of my options is akin to watching paint dry and which could be called amazing blazing. This SSK 2tb drive is one of the latter variety. Having compared it to Kingston, Sandisk, Samsung, and perhaps others, it is the best thumb drive that I have found. The bonus is that it offers 2tb of space giving me overhead to avoid immediately deleting files that I may need to carry to other projects. As a bonus, it is manufactured out of sturdy metal that feels costly as opposed to common plastic or composite material. Finally, as others have mentioned, the access to having a standard USB on one side and a C connector on the other side means that I have near universal compatibility between my devices. I love this thumb drive and believe that you may find the same benefits that I have enjoyed.
