Will this work with 110v vac run off transformer or will current draw from transformer stop it switching off automatically

Accepted Answer

The power tool controls the switching of the Vac/Transformer, so I don't see how the transformer will effect switching. The unit does however have a maximum current load limit, for the Vac. In your case Vac/Transformer. This is a maximum load of 1500W. So you must ensure that the current draw of your Vac/Transformer combination does not exceed 1500W.

Question 2

My table saw is power is controlled by a NVR switch and doesn’t work with this unit?why? & is there a way around this?

Accepted Answer

The type of switch on your table saw should not matter, once the motor in your table saw is running the iVAC switch will detect the current flow and then turn your extractor on. Try operating your iVAC switch with another power tool(s) to confirm that it is working correctly. IVAC include a troubleshooting guide in the box - this will assist you in diagnosing the problem. NOTE: the iVAC switch will not work with an extractor fitted with an NVR or DOL switch. iVAC offer other products for NVR and DOL protected extractors - the iVAC Pro System.

Under what circumstances would I need to use an earthing connection with this unit ?

The earth terminal on the iVAC Switch Box is for grounding accessories only - e.g. Cyclones, caddies and ducting. This helps to manage static. The  iVAC Switch Box itself is earthed through the mains lead and plug. Use of the earth terminal is optional.

I have a 1500W vacuum and an 1800W saw - will this overload the switch?

I use it with a 1800w table saw and a 650w shop vac and have not had any issues. I think it is fused at 13 amps so at 3000w (1800 + 1200) you are right on the border line and may well blow the fuse.
