I'd bought this with the usual low expectations one has for the Indian processed food industry. How good could filter coffee powder -- powder!-- be? Quite great, it turns out. Sleepy Owl has produced an excellent variety that resolves my long quest for something that could serve as a quick alternative to actually making fresh decoction. All you need is a boiling hot cup of good milk; stir in the powder, froth the mix with the gravity pour method, and you're done! The base coffee is the Robusta bean, not Arabica. This produces a distinctly different flavour and for those who're attached to the classic south Indian filter coffee made from Plantation A and chicory mix, it may take a few iterations to get used to. But I liked it almost immediately. It has a rich, creamy, velvety flavour. The proportion of coffee:chicory is 70:30. I prefer it 60:40, but one can always get chicory powder and add to the mix before every cup. All in all, a happy purchase. Good sleep, Owlies.

yldaThe coffee is still good however there is a remarkable difference in the coffee bought in the bottles versus the coffee available in the satchets. We tasted the coffee in the sachets and thoroughly enjoyed the superb flavour but the larger bottles disappointed sadly.

If you drink Black Coffee then do not buy it .It has no strong taste and for latte it is worst I prefer Bru

Review by "godhuli" says "'I've learnt my lesson. Filter coffee cannot be made instantly." - That is the truth Review by "ankita Virmani" says "100% Premium Arabica beans", "Contains 95% Soluble Crystals + 5% Freshly Roasted Ground Coffee for a Rich Aroma and also Contains Microground Coffee", "bold cup of filter coffee" etc - Wrong information. Lies. Company itself clearly states this has only Robusta beans (which I love for milk coffee). This is pure instant coffee powder, does not have any ground coffee. It is not bold in the sense of caffeine kick or robusta intensity, but there is a chicory-robusta dark-roast kind of bold. *** On first few days it felt too much like a jaggery-chicory drink. After a few days it did start feeling like south indian filter coffee, in aroma and taste. May be it needed some oxidation. Or may be due to inconsistent mixing of chicory powder and coffee powder in the tin. Not sure. I would have liked this to be 85-15 instead of 70-30, because I enjoy this, and will buy again but somewhere I feel the robusta coffee dose of taste is not enough and chicory taste can be reduced. It is very difficult to have consistency in the blends of 2 different powders (both scenarios instant or ground coffee) in specific ratios like 85-15. In some spoons you might more of chicory, in others coffee. So shaking the tin before use daily can help. This kind of precise blending is easy in liquid products like coffee-chicory decoctions (ensuring consistent ratio in mix of powders is easier in factory due to bulk volume one time prep in litres :) I guess you see where this is going, this is why I think chicory blends of coffee at home usually taste different on each day) A good option for the company can be to have 2 products: 60-40 or 70-30 (which many enjoy including me occasionally), and 100% pure robusta (which I will eagerly buy) Someone who buys both 60-40 and 100 can do own mixes at home for variety on different days, if you are my type :)
