Inlet valve won't close off water. What's the problem

Diaphragm washer wrong way round?/needs new washer/o-ring? /swing arm needs adjustment? Try looking on Youtube

need a replacement plastic retaining clip, that holds these in the housing,(edges disintegrating).anyone know where?

Had the same problem but unable to find a separate part - replaced the complete housing cylinder for less than £3

Will this fit a Dudley inlet valve?

Sorry no idea what a Dudley inlet valve is. I have fitted this type of washer in about 4 different properties over many years to various cisterns

Is this the part that stops that horrendous noise when you flush. Is it a generic size?

The diaphragm washer is to stop the flow of water when the water tank is full , it's also called a ball valve. The noise you hear when re-filling the tank can be reduced if you are able to reduce the water pressure and slow down the flow. This can be done outside the tank on the incoming water supply (copper pipe) if you have a shutoff valve which shuts off the water and can be adjusted with a small screwdriver.The diaphragm washer won't stop the noise.

Diaphragm washers

My cistern was making a terrible noise when flushed I looked for a video to see if I could fix the problem myself. They said it was just the diaphragm washer looked them up and found these washers. They were so easy to change over I would recommend them it has saved me a lot of money.
