Easy to Instal, works well with other routers, comes with plug for US, EU and UK
I'm using it in Europe to change connection location and keep using my subscriptions from before moving country. My set up is: 1) fibre 2) router from service provider 3) Aircove 4) Mesh WiFi Installation is simple: 1) plug in Aircove - it comes with an electric socket for US, UK and EU 2) connect to it via wifi or cable on your computer/phone/tablet 3) visit its short URL to customise what you want, like: · the wifi name and password · the name of your devices connected to it · which connected devices will connect to VPN when you turn it on and which won't be affected by it Interface If you're using a smartphone or tablet, there is no app to access the router, but if you add the web page to your home screen (share button), it will feel like an app. As your connected devices appear on the list, you might not recognise their names so I recommend connecting them one by one and renaming them as they appear, so that you know which is which between, say, the TV, the game console, your work laptop, the tablet or the phone. To move them from a category (say, "connect to VPN") to another (say, "never on VPN"), just press/click and hold on the device name on the list, and drag it left or right. Connection Speed Because connecting to a different location literally means your internet signal going to THAT location and back to your place, you WILL lose speed, but it's not bad, but even before we switched to 900 Mbps fibre, when we were on a 76 Mbps connection and the VPN cut it in half, we could still stream in 4K 🙂 If you're testing the speed, I recommend trying different locations, as some could be closer to you and maintain greater speed. WiFi If you just use the WiFi from your Aircove, then it will recognise each device individually and for each you can select if you want it to connect to VPN or not. However, as I use Mesh WiFi, the Aircove only sees the Mesh WiFi connected to it, it does not see the devices connected to the Mesh WiFi. Therefore if you want to choose what to connect to VPN and what not to, with Mesh WFi this will happen at the WiFi level. So on the ExpressVPN menu, I have 1 device for the whole Mesh WiFi network, it's all or nothing in that case. What's Mesh WiFi, you may ask. If you struggle with WiFi signal in certain places in your home, I recommend it if you can afford it (great Christmas present!), you have one pod per location where you want to expand the signal, it broadcasts its own WiFi signal and each pod you buy will expand that same signal further, meaning that, contrary to WiFi extenders where if you're talking on WhatsApp it will cut and connect you to the extender, the Mesh Wifi is the same signal everywhere. Separate Router I have a separate router connected to the Aircove, for the TV and the 2 game consoles because I couldn't figure out how else to connect 3 devices on the 1 network cable running from the Aircove in the house entrance to the TV unit in the living room, but the Aircove still recognises each device individually through that other router which is great. If you're "upgrading" with Aircove from an older router where you had custom-installed ExpressVPN, and want to use both on the same network, then I recommend looking for the original firmware of your older router and bringing it back to its original set up. Else the two ExpressVPN routers won't work well together, you'll never know which the "app" is accessing and it's a nightmare.

Good concept, but slow Internet connection
I need to start by stating that the unit worked as advertised. It does require an ExpressVPN subscription account and setup was easy. It was able to provide protection for all devices on wired and wireless network without any issues. Interface is very simple and you can create multiple groups to be connected to multiple VPN locations, allowing you to put certain devices on separate VPN connections and also restrictions them to only certain services (for example, Kid's iPad on a separate VPN and block Adult, Gambling and Social Media.) The only issue that I had with the device was sacrifice in connection speed to the ISP. I have a 1Gb Fiber link from my ISP. My up/down speed is around 980Mbs down and 950Mbs Up. When connected to the VPN, my speeds didn't exceed above 100Mbs. I understand the technicality and the fact that my traffic is routed to another data center and connection speed is limited, but sacrificing 1Gb and getting 100Mb is a tough pill to swallow. Again, it's not the device's fault and just the nature of the VPN service, but it just didn't work for me.

EXCEPTIONALLY SLOW- Reduces 900Mbps to 110Mbps
This router is EXCEPTIONALLY slow when using ExpressVPN, which is its main function. So, fail! If you have high speed internet faster than 100Mbps, avoid this router! My testing shows it severely reducing bandwidth. For this price, the router should do much better than this horrific throughput. Starting with a wired connection to this router from a PC, through to fiber ISP (940Mbpps), speed tests show: 1) With No VPN - 900Mbps -- so the router can handle gigabit speed with VPN off, like pretty much any bargain bin router these days. 2) With ExpressVPN App running on PC, VPN Enabled to nearest server - 300Mbps -- this is the "normal" VPN slowdown I guess. 3) With Express VPN enabled on Router (turned off on PC) - 110Mbps I understand ExpressVPN may not be able to keep up with 900Mbps, but the router should not be slowing throughput to 1/3 the speed of using the same ExpressVPN connection on PC App. Truly pitiful. Troubleshooting with ExpresVPN has been no help, but after the two probably automated responses suggesting how to speed up Wifi (um.. I said was using a direct wired connection to the router, guys) they finally started offering some on-topic suggestions, but still no joy. My conclusion is they think nobody has internet service faster than 100Mbps, and they tricked me into buying an underpowered, poorly engineered solution, at a premium price.

Good product
One of the best purchases of 2025. Now I can stream from any country without restrictions. The coverage is great for my 2,000 sq ft apartment.

Works very well out of the US
We purchased this VPN for use in a foreign country. It does a great job of protecting everything downstream. We are able to stream many of the streaming services in the US and also have an internet phone with our US phone number. We can even stream tv stations from our home area in the states. It works well.

Won't Stay Connected to VPN
Their support is great until there is a problem that can't be fixed. Technically the router is still working but it drops connection to the VPN locations at LEAST once a day and most days several times. We thought it was the AT&T Fiber internet connection for awhile until I started paying attention and realized the AT&T was fine. It is set to pass through so there is no fighting in the firewalls. I've changed VPN locations, changed protocols, singed out, signed in etc etc etc and it still drops daily. Also speed has been limited to 100mbps at the very top while we pay for faster service.

Probably a decent wifi router but even after more than an hour on line with express VPN tech support, impossible to configure and get working. They recommended returning to the supplier BUT the actual supplier in the USA - lots of admin and cost to send to the US. Still waiting for my money back.

Considering the price, I wouldn't highly recommend this product. There were no instructions provided on how to connect it, and a VPN subscription is required, which wasn't clearly mentioned. The Wi-Fi signal is also weaker compared to other products in the same price range. Additionally, the item arrived in poor condition where the box looked old, appeared to have been opened before, and was quite smashed during delivery.
