We have literally hundreds of cds. And we wanted to convert them to flac files to play on the mp3 player. This piece of kit is very dlsimple to use. Plug and play. It allows me to load the cd. And play it on my laptop. ( which does not have a cd or dvd drive) I can watch dvds on my laptop. And load in photos from the micro sd card from my camera... All in one piece of kit.... brilliant. Great price. Great kit. Great idea. Love it.

This product I bought thinking I could use with my Chromebook as long as I downloaded the correct software. It arrived early, set it up, downloaded the software and........... No it doesn't work. All is not lost though. If you have a Windows OS laptop or PC, this little kit is recognised straight away so you can start listening to your cd collection Whoop whoop. There are multiple slot's for Memory cards, thumbdrives etc so you can easily transfer files from one to the other so all of your files are now in one place. Lightweight and durable and portable. So you can't really go wrong.

Loved it! Plugged it in. Put a CD on and it worked straight away.Acer aspire lappy.Really pleased I've had it of all of 15 minutes. I may make a further update later. So far very pleased. Last night I played an old DVD film which was a little scratched... perfect reproduction! I have used it to transfer a lot of music to my MP3 player. Faultlessly.

A great wee disc drive let down by what sounds like a loose component inside making it noisy whilst operating when lying flat. I use it set upright in a stand negating this issue. I could've returned it, but it works fine otherwise. I was disappointed to note that the package containing this disc drive had already been opened and after making enquiries, discovered that it had been left with the store next door to my local Post Office - the collection point. The store owner subsequently passed the package through to the Post Master having opened it in error. All n' all not the standard of service I'd expect. Prior to all this, further confusion arose when I received a message saying my item was ready for collection, yet when I went to the collection point - my local Post Office, they said they didn't have my package. I arrived at opening time the next morning and was told it had been passed through (opened) from next door. Really not good enough!

Easy to pop a DVD in so grandchildren can watch it on the MacBook screen. It enables a much better quality of viewing than the usual cartoons they go for if left to find something on the computer. You definitely know what they are watching!

Absolute piece of rubbish: Disc Reading - Only randomly reads discs even just to play, and requires several ejects and re-inserts to achieve even that. CD Ripping - Once you get past the random 'read' stage, it frequently aborts ripping or skips tracks etc during the process. This is with at least 4 different ripping programs too BTW. DVD Writing - Forget it, unless you have plenty of blank media to waste. I tried at least 10 times using branded media and a variety of different software (Nero, Windows Media, NCH Etc.), and not one of the attempts was successful. CD Writing - wouldn't even recognize the blank media, and again this was high quality branded media being used. The build is not too flimsy, but the positioning of the cables and inputs is very awkward and cable lenghts are too short for any practical kind of use. Judging by all the positive reviews, I have to presume I got a lemon. Unfortunately, as I received this as a gift, there is no chance of returning it, as that window has closed. This one is heading for the bin and I'll do some more research before I get an alternative.
