BlueStars 30+7.5 uF 30/7.5 MFD 370/440 VAC Dual Run Capacitor 10000AFC

Capacitors are wear items that are best either proactively replaced before they go bad or, at the very least, you should keep a properly rated spare on hand for when the one in your current AC unit inevitably quits. Furthermore, replacing a capacitor is a job that is well within the average DIY’er with nothing but the most basic tools required. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it and do so safely. That is, unless you want to pay an HVAC repair company $200/$300/$400 or more when your capacitor quits (and it will eventually) on the hottest day of the year. Yes, that is what they charge to replace a capacitor. This Blue Stars brand dual run capacitor arrived promptly and when tested with my Klein MM700 multimeter was almost spot on the label rating and well within the claimed 5% tolerance. Replaced an aging Dayton (Grainger) part number 2MEK3B of the same specifications (50 + 7.5 mfd) in a 20 year old Lennox central air unit (not the original capacitor). The dimensions of the Blue Stars capacitor (both diameter and height) matched the Dayton unit being replaced exactly and were consistent with the product listing. The capacitor being replaced was still working and tested OK so it will go on the shelf as a spare. The capacitor itself is clearly marked (C=common, FAN, and HERM (compressor)). Terminals feel solid as does the metal (aluminum) casing. Did not weigh it but felt as heavy (if not slightly more) than the capacitor it was replacing. The product labeling clearly shows China as the place of manufacture but claims it is UL (USA) and CE (Europe) certified (but I have no way to verify this). Product listing in Amazon states a 100% lifetime warranty. Can’t vouch for that either. When installed and tested, the AC unit fired right up with the new capacitor. Far less expensive than I could find locally (Southwest Ohio). Certainly inexpensive enough to either purchase to have a spare on hand or, like me, proactively swap out an aging part before a problem occurs so I could do it at my convenience and schedule. As noted above, replacing a capacitor is not rocket science and within the ability of anyone that can replace a household light switch. Just make sure you get a capacitor of the right microfarad (MFD) rating for your application and TURN OFF THE POWER before you even think about starting the project. This means either flipping the circuit breaker in the main panel for the AC unit off or using the exterior safety disconnect switch where the AC interconnects to the house power. Simply turning off the switch on the furnace or thermostat IS NOT ENOUGH. Also, a capacitor, even one that has failed, can hold a residual charge and, therefore, make sure you discharge the old unit. Again, there are many videos available on how to do this and do it safely. Do some homework if this is new to you as saving a few dollars is not worth a serious injury or electrocution. Can’t comment yet on durability or service life but will update if it fails prematurely. Otherwise, a good solid product and an excellent value. Five (blue) Stars. This item was used on the squirrel cage fan in my AC unit. Sam 20uF cap. works great! I have no complaints. this item appears to be of good quality with no noticeable discrepancies. very easy to install. I hope the lifespan is good. I will update if it goes out. otherwise it's still working for me. Its a good price, good product. I'd recommend this.

I bought this 7.5 μF run capacitor to replace the weak blower motor capacitor in my HVAC system after a maintenance tech quoted me $300, and doing it myself was much easier than expected. I shut off power at the furnace switch and breaker, removed the blower door, located the old capacitor, took a quick picture of the two purple wires, then disconnected them and safely discharged the capacitor by touching both terminals together with an insulated-handle screwdriver. After removing it from the mounting clamp, I installed the new capacitor, tightened the clamp, pushed the connectors on firmly until they were fully seated, closed the blower door to engage the safety switch, restored power, and tested the system. The blower started instantly, airflow improved noticeably, and the whole HVAC system runs smoother now. The specs matched perfectly, quality seems excellent, and replacing it myself saved me a full $300. Highly recommended for anyone comfortable with basic DIY work.

Works perfectly! It fit the opening on the AC exactly like it was supposed to.

I ordered this capacitor as a replacement for my Lennox AC unit, and it worked exactly as expected. It was as per specs, and when I tested it with my multimeter, the readings were well within the stated ±5% tolerance. The installation was straightforward, make sure to cut power first and double-check the wiring labels (C, Fan, and Herm are clearly marked). Once installed, my AC started right up without any issues, and it’s been running smoothly since past 2 months. It’s built to UL and CE standards, and the terminals and casing feel solid and durable. For the price, it’s a fraction of what a local HVAC company would charge just to replace a capacitor. I was quoted 350 with the final offer of $280. Overall, this is a quality, no-nonsense replacement part that does exactly what it’s supposed to. Highly recommended.

Worked well. Saved a $1,400.00 on a Traulsen commercial refrigerator fan motor assemble. Motor would not start on its own, but would run. It was a little hard to find the bad capacitor hidden in the Junction box. Plug and play fix.

Worked great

I’d take a picture but it’s in my ac unit working hard currently. Saved a whole slew of money from buying it at the supply shop and it’s been doing just fine since the install. First thing I’ll always check when my ac quits is this. Excellent value and easy to install.

This capacitor was a perfect match and fixed my central A/C unit - thank goodness !!

Works good So far very happy

Perfect replacement capacitor for our heat pump. Very cost effective to replace this part rather than having a contractor do it a few hundred $,

Purchased to replace 30 year old Capacitor on Goodman AC Compressor unit. Lasted 2 Years and going strong. Will update how long this capacitor lasts as I do Spring maintenance measurements on my HVAC system.

This product fits Amana home AC. Works perfectly. It's very easy to replace Avoid a cost of repair of up to 1200.00CAD by DIY with this capacitor.1
