Very impressed with my first Sencut
I had been eyeballing the Civivi Conspirator since I saw it in a Shot Show video a month before it was released. As soon as it was available I saw that Sencut (another company in the WE Knives/Civivi family) released 2 other knives that were very similar to the Conspirator the Mims and the Sache. Both had very similar features and were nearly half the cost. While I am trying to decide which of those I should get, they released this Serene and that is the one I finally chose. and this is why... 1. I think WE and Civivi make the best and most affordable button locks on the market and their Sencut button locks are just as good. Great lock up and perfect detent. If you deploy the knife using the thumb studs the blade rockets out and the button lock works great. I have even had no issues deploying using a reverse flick using the thumb studs. With some button locks you get a little bounce in the blade on the drop shut if you don't time it right, since this knife has a long blade the weight closes on the detent perfect every time. 2. The brilliant color of the aluminum anodizing is very cool. I got the blue and it is very vivid. it has a very nice satin finish but it's not so smooth It's slippery. It's similar to the finish on an Ultratech OTF. 3. It is much slimmer and lightweight compared to the other knives I was comparing it to. it is very thin but the handle is large enough to still be comfortable in hand. even the flipper tab is low profile considering the size of the blade but it still flips with authority. The other knives i mentioned are either G10 or Micarta which have a thicker profile. I rarely carry a knife this big anymore since I took an office job and am no longer in the field, so the fact that this is a big knife that carries like a smaller lighter knife is a big plus for me. 4.Blade geometry. The blade has a drop point style that reminds me of a Shirogorov with the full flat grind and distal taper of a Spyderco. The blade stock is fairly thin as well so it's a sharp and slicey blade that cuts through material with nearly zero drag. So for the first introduction to the Sencut Brand I am extremely happy with it. I love WE and Civivi, especially Civivi who in my opinion has been releasing the best quality budget blades in the last few years and I am always amazed what you can get from Civivi for such a low price. Sencut is definitely a chip off that block and I am interested in exploring more of their products in the future.

Beautiful knife!
This is the perfect example of a quality knife that sells for much less than it should. As a big fan of WE and Civivi and I was excited to try out their newest sister company Sencut. And boy I am not disappointed I did! As usual with their brand of knives there is no blade play, the action is swift and enjoyable with ease of opening by both the thumb stud and the flipper tab. VERY SMOOTH! And with an achey thumb at times retracting the axis lock or frame lock on some knives just hurts after fidgeting with them over and over. So the button release is great for lots of fidget fun but with ease of retracting the blade. The detent is perfect and with the knife completely vertical as soon as I push the unlock button the blade drops smoothly all the way to the frame. No shaking or tilting l, just a nice controlled drop. I personally think button is quieter and smoother than my Claymore which when pressed feels a little grainy and has a little squeak to it. This is one hell of a knife for their budget blade cost. Will definitely purchase more Sencut knives.

Sharp and high quality.
What a great product. Fidget factor is very high. The flipper tab works great, the button lock was smooth and easy to manipulate right out of the box. No blade play in any direction, solid lockup, razor sharp. Again, very very sharp from the factory. The fit and finish is fantastic. The aluminum scales have very smooth machined edges and it fits in my hand like a glove and feels very precise even for its size. The scales feel every bit as good as my 940 Osborne and actually to me a little better. It dissapears in my pocket and feels great in use. The black on black looks very good, like something John Wick would carry, very serious looking. For the price, I just dont know how you can get any better. This is my first Sencut and man what a way to introduce yourself. I will be buying more Sencut knives for certain. The quality, fit and finish are outstanding. I love this knife.

Blade was slightly off center
The knife is beautiful and has a razor sharp edge. I love the fact is has the perfect trifecta (flipper tab, thumb stuf, AND button lock)! The only slight issue I had is that the blade was slightly closer to the left handle scale than the right one (see pic). The blade should fall perfectly in the center of the 2 handles, yet mine seems to favor the lady handle to a noticeable degree. I had to disassemble the scales and wedge a folded playing card in the handle while retightening in order to recenter the blade. Now it’s perfect.

Unbelievable
The value proposition of modern knives is almost unbelievable. The Serene exemplifies that statement. It's comfortable, very slicey with a good grind and fairly refined edge for a mass production piece. It's well built. D2 steel has outstanding edge retention, especially for this price range and I know this company tends to heat treat theor D2 well. Though it's a semi-stainless steel, the coating on the blade should mitigate corrosion concerns. I should note that I haven't cut more than cardboard so far, meaning I don't know how durable that coating is yet. I assume it's PVD. The blade has no wiggle and the lock stood up to light spine whacks. I can't imagine someone regretting this purchase, not because of the knife anyway; maybe because your wife finds out you bought another one. This could easily be a one and done knife buy and should last you years. Just know the finish on the aluminum will show wear like scratches, as will the finish on the blade.

Stellar budget EDC
Sencut really knocked this one out of the park, the knife came razor sharp with the most perfect factory grind I've ever seen, it passed the paper slicing test and shaved arm hair right out of the box. after running the edge over a strop and paste it's sharp enough to shave whiskers! The balance of the knife is superb and very light weight, good for using and also for fidget fun. The action is incredibly smooth and will only get better with use and all opening methods have been effortless and 100 percent reliable.this came with the companies knife storage and stickers as well. If you're at all a fan of WE, KIZER, OR CIVIVI I really recommend SENCUT for budget friendly edc blades.

Best budget button lock
For the price, this has got to be one of the best button lock folders out there. I stopped collecting folding knives years ago but recently decided to try out some button lock folders mainly for the fidget factor and I wanted a new beater knife for work which is mostly cutting open cardboard boxes and breaking them down. Yes, it isn’t going to boast premium materials like WE Knives but the quality is there. I went with the all black model since I knew I would be putting fingerprints all over the blade from the constant fidgeting if I went with a satin blade. Pros: I like the full size and how lightweight it feels. The slim design carries great in the pocket. Comfortable to use and the blade shape makes cutting tasks easy. The overall look of the knife is sleek and the finish on the aluminum handles feels nice. The deployment is excellent no matter which way you deploy it. Fires hard and makes cool sounds. I like having a knife that can deploy at least 2 different ways and this one can do at least 3 so it’s very fidget friendly. Flipper tab and thumb studs are easy to get to. The button lock is the best I’ve felt compared to the other popular budget brands. No stick and absolutely smooth and quiet when pressed. And I didn’t even have to oil it out of box. Cons: Mostly minor nitpicks but I’m not sure why the blade finish is listed as “black stone wash”. It’s more of a black coating or painted black that can look rather cheap. But pics and videos will show that so it wasn’t much of a surprise. The edge didn’t come as razor sharp as I would have expected but it slices paper and tape just fine. The finish wears out after about a week or cutting boxes and tape but that’s to be expected. The edge has been holding decently well. The handles feel a little too slick. If you don’t have a proper grip, this knife can easily slip. Or if you aren’t wise with where you set it down, it can easily slide off an uneven surface. Not a fan of these spring pocket clips but that’s easily remedied with a Civivi titanium clip. Overall, this is a great knife for someone getting their first knife or even for someone who collects high end folders. A newbie will see how cool it is without breaking the bank and veteran can appreciate the quality for a budget blade. But if you just need to fidget with knives, this is one of the best ones at such an affordable price.

Best value EDC folder
Sencut Serene is the best bang for your buck when it comes to pocket folding knives. I often choose to carry the Serene over my expensive knives. It is flawless, fun, and functional.
