Good once you get the hang of it
I spent a couple of weeks figuring out the proper angle and method. Biggest issue was that I had previously been using a different kind of sharpener, and the angles were way off. I can now keep the knife sharp with just a few minutes each week and it slices tomatoes easily without any snagging. I tried using the included angle guide, but I found it easier to do without it once I figured it out. Very satisfied, though frustrating in the beginning

Very good

Poor Quality
This stone set is simply too soft. Will fill any blade as steel will cut into the soft material instead of providing a whetting surface. I felt like I was using a surform. DO NOT recommend.

A REALLY complete sharpening kit with everything you need!
First, whetstone sharpening is NOT for the faint of heart. BUT, if you're looking to get started on the best knife sharpening you can do, this is a great kit for it! It comes with a number of components that cover just about every sharpening you'd ever need to do! First, is the round stone, which is a 180/320. This is best used for 'dull' sharp things (like an axe, or maul/etc). Both sides are pretty coarse, so it is great for getting an axe sharp enough for wood. This setup is really quite good. For knives/plane-irons/chisels, there are quite a few components. First, is the bamboo base, which has a great rubber bottom to keep it from slipping. The stones with their rubber holders fit snuggly. These work great! It is nice that they can stack together on top of each other as well, which makes storage nice. The stones themselves are reasonable quality, they aren't japanese water stone quality, but I'm happy with them. I find myself wishing the 'highest' grit stone was something like a 12,000 grit as well, the 8000 is just not quite fine enough. BUT, if you find yourself wanting sharper knives, a good stone is an easy addition to this kit. The knife blade guide I found not particularly useful. It doesnt' really work well for long knives, and curved blades get a bit of a strange shape as a result. I don't think it is really worth having around. You're better to use a sharpie marker on the spot you want to grind, do what you can to find the edge, and sharpen until it looks good/the sharpie is gone. The chisel guide is the same inexpensive style that you can get everywhere. As long as you are consistent, it is 'good enough', but there are better out there. The bearing is a bit loose, so I wouldn't count on machine-like consistency. The leather strop is a little bit of a thin/cheap piece of leather for my taste, I probably won't be using it at all. A GOOD thick piece of hide is usually much better for this sort of thing. One thing I DO appreciate is the flattening stone. There is a little green harder stone that you use to flatten the main stones when they get worn away. Its rare for folks to use one of these, and they get funny shaped knives as a result, so this is a good inclusioN! overall, a nice 'sharpen everything around the house' kit for an affordable price.
