Chose an MT6 PRO pinpointer because of it's quality build and what seemed to be good value for money. I've used it metal detecting for a couple of weeks and it worked a treat. Really simple to use, not sure how long the battery lasts but otherwise can't fault it.

Recently received the Dr Otek Pin Pointer. Build quality feels excellent, nice rubberized texture and good quality plastics used. The belt loop feels like it will last and the lanyard is again of decent quality. Functionality wise; it does its job and accurately pin points metallic objects. It can be used in sound and vibration, just sound or just vibration. The screen while not strictly speaking necessary does what it's intended to some people may like this feature. Inclusion of a built in torch is welcome and proves useful. A Negative for me is the ease of the power button to press, some sort of 'lockout' would have been sensible as it can easily turn on from light pressure. Overall it's excellent value for money, does its job. When compared to the price of the known brands it becomes a no brainer.

More than happy with how well the Pinpoint unit works. Although my metal detector has a pinpoint system, you save so much more time working closer with the DR OTEK pin pointer, once you have detected something. It’s well made and waterproof with all the selections that you should need. It’s already found coins easily on its first day of use

I'm just getting started out in metal detecting and I wanted a decent pinpointer but I didn't want to invest £100+ at the moment for a leading brand one. But equally I didn't want a cheap £15 one as it will just be unreliable, so this one seemed a logical choice. The device is a good weight and feels decent build quality. It has two settings- a general setting and an interference blocking setting. The interference blocking setting just seems to make it more 'pinpointy' i.e. when you're right next to the find. It has a screen with a signal scale so you can see how close you are to the find. Not really sure of the benefit to be honest as the general setting is accurate enough. My only critique would be that the device keeps registering 'one bar' of signal when it comes into direct contact with something I.e. if the top of the probe touches the dirt it will register one bar of signal even if there's no metal there. I checked and tested this as I was digging for a find and this was confusing me. Until I finally realised every time it touches the dirt directly it would always register one bar- even if theres nothing there. Its just annoying more than anything, but maybe it could just be a slight fault on my particular device. Also, the power button is used to manage the settings i.e. the light, vibrate, sound etc and it gets a bit confusing at times trying to go through them to find the one you need, or if you accidently press the power button. Again just a bit annoying, should just be a dedicated button for each thing. And perhaps a lock button. Overall I think its decent for the price but only for a beginner. I'll probably upgrade to a MineLab or Nokta once I become more experienced.

very good quality, does its job brilliantly, well pleased

Was looking for a pinpointer that was a little better than the low end but not as expensive as the Garrett which I normally use. This unit so far has been great and on a par with the Garrett. It is well made and hasn't been 'falsing' which was an issue with the cheaper units..

Have been looking around for a reasonably priced pin pointer as I only metal detect as an occasional hobby. After reading reviews I purchased it to compliment my Minelab Go Find 44, it was delivered from the UK to Australia in a quick efficient service considering I ordered it on Xmas Eve. Tried it out today in the forest area behind our backyard, picked up a response on the Minelab 44 then used it to pin point the exact location in a small excavated hole of what was a house key at a depth of around 100mm, it worked exactly as it should. It is not designed to detect items at extreme depths only within around 50 to 75mm. The raised power button has not been a problem, I want it easy to turn on especially when wearing gloves, happy with my purchase.

This works well to pinpoint metals in loose soil or sand. It detects in loose soil to a depth of about 3 inches. Not so deep in denser soil I haven't tested it yet in water.

Hâtte ich gewusst das es beim Gold nicht funktioniert würde ich es nicht kaufen! Ansonsten funktioniert bei allem anderen Metallstücken Silber hab ich auch nicht probiert bin leider sehr enteuscht was Gold angeht! Ich wollte es in der Türkei einsetzen aber es ist nicht mehr nötig da zahle ich etwas mehr und kaufe Garrett oder so! Der Verkäufer sollte vermerken das es beim Gold nicht einsetzbar ist trotz das Gold ne Schwermetall ist!!!!
