Clear narration of important part of Irelands history.
Good documentary setting out events leading up to and also the aftermath of the Easter uprising. Would be a good starting point for anyone studying this period in history. Excellent narration. More explanation as how this linked into or led to following events such as division of Ireland

Learn about the 1916 rebellion !
As far as I know the 1916 Irish rebellion is rarely covered in UK school history classes. Certainly I knew almost nothing about it, so I purchased this DVD to learn something about how Ireland's independance eventually came about. It seems very well researched, well produced and authentic, so I would recommend it to anyone that, like me is interested in this aspect of UK and Irish history.

A very relevant piece at the bevinning of the series cut out!!! A verse from John Mitchell was the very reason I bought it and will contact the supplier before I contact Amazon to return it because of this very special verse being missing. It is not as shown on RTE or BBC! Very very disappointed!!!

Top Notch Historical Documentary
Fantastic in every cinematic way. I am a big history buff, an Irish folk singer and amateur historian. I have always been put off by NONHISTORICAL STORIES who pass themselves off as HISTORICAL FACT. Truth is always better than fiction. Briona Nic Dhiarmada, Chistopher Fox,and Stuart Switzer have really outdone themselves. And getting Liam Neeson to narrate was a stroke of genius. I cannot say enough and praise this bit of TRUE IRISH HISTORY to the extent that it needs to be praised. A must see for all who can appreciate a Struggle for FREEDOM & LIBERTY. Ron J. A great historical documentary about the Easter Rising
My wife and I sing a lot of Irish songs, not just on St Paddy's Day. There are many "rebel songs" from the various Irish rebellions that occurred until Ireland finally won their independence. This documentary does a great job of explaining the events leading up to, during, and after the 1916 Irish Easter Rising, and introducing the major players in the rebellion. Now when we sing some of these songs, it's not just words to repeat. We have a better understanding of the who, what, where, when and why that we're singing about.
