Cons - Rattles when shaken, ink doesn't last long, when used for long time the matte black goes away, the blue gem is tacky. Pros- super compact for a 4+1 multipen, all metal, simple and reliable ink change mechanism, great weight balance, excellent writer.

The pen is of excellent quality, both in finish and in mechanical operation. The refills are also of excellent quality, unfortunately at this time they are quite expensive and/or hard to find. You can use standard D1 type refills from other brands, but the original ones have the qualities of being archival, with saturated colors, and writing very smoothly.

As someone who is addicted to writing implements (I can stop buying them any time, right?) I have to say this is, overall, the nicest multipen I've had. It seems well made. The matte finish gives a decent, non-slippery grip. Its metal construction gives it a nice mid-weight, heavier than plastic but not so heavy one would notice it much. Although a bit wider than a stick pen, I find this remarkably slim for a three ink plus pencil combo unit. It uses the standard multi-pen refill, the Type D1. The three included when you buy it are of course Jetstreams. For those not familiar with them, the Jetstream is a hybrid ballpoint; it falls somewhere between the familiar old school ballpoint pen and a gel pen. Jetstreams in particular have a fine reputation as smooth writers. These refills are excellent that way, exhibiting both the Jetstream smoothness and its good line quality, heavier and darker than most ballpoints. Of course a darker line means the ink will be used up sooner. D1 refills don't hold much ink, and Jetstream D1 refills are more expensive than most, so this may be a concern. One could use less expensive, standard ball point D1 refills from any number of other companies if expense is a worry. It is a standard refill type, so there are many brands available. As for the multi-pen itself, it is nicely made. It is mostly metal. The lower barrel rotates reasonably smoothly to switch between the various pens and pencil; not as smoothly as my Zebra Sharbo X, but that only has three units; two pens and one pencil. Didn't come with them either, you had to buy them extra. The Uni comes fully loaded and ready to go. You can change ink colors by turning the lower barrel either way. I had another pen where you could only turn it one way; once you went past blue, for example, the only way to get back to it was to continue all the way around until it came up again. You couldn't turn the pen one notch backward. It's surprising how annoying this gets after a while. Turning the barrel the "wrong way," the direction that would unscrew the barrel so that you can remove it and replace worn-out ballpoints, risks unscrewing the barrel when all you wanted to do was change ink color. However, only the lower three quarters or so of the barrel actually come off when you want to replace refills. There's about an inch wide section, the flared part just below the pen's clip, that doesn't come off. Grip this section when turning the barrel the "wrong way"and it won't unscrew on you. The pen can have a slight rattle when writing, but no worse than I have encountered in ordinary, single color, push button retractable pens. All in all a neat gadget. I like it very much.

It was taking some days to be delivered but the wait was worth it. Excellent quality on the product, feel great in the hand and when writing. To have different colours + pencil, all in one is just 10/10. Thanks! A.

The only minus is getting replacement inks, it would be nice if it was explained more easily where to get the correct refills for pen and eraser.
