Beautiful well engineered super sturdy filing cabinet.
This review is for the 3 large drawer wood file cabinet. It took a long time before I ran across this one. All the others were metal. Very happy with it. All the pieces fit together perfectly, well engineered and super sturdy. But it took a very long time to put together, over 4 hours, not complaining though. I'm 71 with arthritis, and fumble around a bit. There are over 50 very small screws that I would have a difficult time using a drill with. Also 32 - 1 and 7/8ths inch screws with an allen head. Screw driver and allen wrench provided. The wood finish is very nice, the drawers work very smoothly and again super sturdy. I just love it. The only problem I ran across was the rear of the drawers. The pilot holes were not deep enough for the 1- and 7/8ths inch screws to put on the back panel. The last half inch of tightening was very difficult and started to crack and bulge out the side of the drawer. This does not affect the performance of the drawer though.

USE A GOOD THICK GLUE TO MAKE THIS VERY SOLID!
For the price...very happy with this. It is your basic idea quality screw together wood furniture. With that being said I think it was worth what I paid for it....packaged well, looks good, it went together well, it came with extra screws, in the end the parts lined up and it was as sturdy as expected (more on that in a second). For an office with many many opens and closes a day it would not be good...but for home use it will last a long time. Now...when I put ikea kind of furniture together I always start on a level surface like the dining room hardwood floor (not living room carpet). Put it together like the instructions say...but I always use glue on every single panel that attaches to another and ALWAYS GLUE THE TRACKS!!!. Use thick slow drying glue....put it together quickly, and when assembled and completed leave the assembled furniture on the flat surface and use something to give it a gentle lean/push or twist till you see everything line up perfectly...then let it sit there till your glue drys... With that process and tightening your screws perfectly (the small screws in particle board strip easier than most think)...you will have a nice piece of "OK" furniture. I am happy with this and glad I bought it. remember, build on level ground, DO NOT over tighten screws, use some good thick slow drying glue, gentle push to hold perfect straight till all glue drys....and you have a very solid file cabinet for your home. (And with the little screws you will have extra of..put them in the tracks in the middle...extra support helps)

A decent product and a responsive manufacturer
I don’t usually submit lengthy reviews, but I thought I would post this time to give kudos to the manufacturer for responsiveness and to Amazon for prompt replacement and pickup. In late September, I ordered this file cabinet in the wood version. I read the reviews (the 5, 1 and 3 stars) and concluded that there were enough people who were happy with their purchase that I would try it. I knew it was furniture that would require assembly, and because I had assembled furniture in the past, I knew that it would involve patience and a bit of time. I was actually on schedule to have assembled the file cabinet in one evening (a leisurely 3-4 hours) and ran into an issue: the screws (Part #5) and the connectors (part #2) would not work when trying to attached the drawer sides (Parts J & K) to the front of the drawer (Part I) in illustration 11 of the instructions. It seemed like either the connector was too short or the holes in Parts J & K are too high, but in any event, the connector was not long enough for the fasters to reach the top of the connector (see the first picture) At first I thought I simply got a one-off item with a packaging error, so when I called Amazon, they sent a replacement file cabinet. However, when the replacement file cabinet arrived, the issue was the same. I then contacted the manufacturer, and they promptly replied. When I sent them picture showing how the screw was too short and asked what they could do, they immediately offered to replace the screws. See the second picture. The one on the RIGHT is the longer screw that ultimately fit to accomplish the drawer assembly. (As an aside: I am on the east coast and I believe the replacement screws came from somewhere west, close to or in California….it took a week for the product to arrive and I started to wonder if they sent it by Pony Express – like an actual one horse powered pony!!) I write this review in the hopes that I can help others avoid the disappointment of finding you may not have the correct parts, so please check that the screws for the drawers look like the ones on the RIGHT – they need to be longer. Yes, I think it’s a problem that quality control didn't catch the error in the parts, but at the end of the day, you should know that the file cabinet is a decent product and the manufacturer was responsive. Make no mistake, this product is particle board and not solid wood. When I first encountered the problem, I considered returning the file cabinet to find an alternative (thinking: surely this is not the only one I might like), however, I was not impressed with the alternatives (cost or appearance), so I took the long route with the return process. As to the tools, I saw others commenting about cheesy or flimsy tools. I will remind purchasers to keep in mind that you are buying a file cabinet, not a quality set of tools (allen wrench and screwdriver). Power tools and a better screwdriver will help, but the most important tool is your own patience. I also recommend reading the other reviews about the collar that goes around the lock; the screws are short and are not forgiving if they need to be screwed in twice (in other words measure twice and cut/screw once). Another commenter noted that the locks were not as effective as they hoped. Here again, I must remind purchasers to keep in mind that you’re buying a home use FILE CABINET, not an industrial use office file cabinet or a security lock box. If you want security, buy a separate lock box or get a safety deposit box!! These locks will NOT keep out a determined person, child or a roommate. Personally, I think the real purpose for the locks is to prevent the drawers from accidentally sliding open if someone installs them in a house with a slight dip/incline. By the way, DO NOT overlook the safety screws to the wall!! I’m not sure why people might not realize that although it is be more convenient to fill the top drawer with important items, it becomes a serious tipping hazard. This file cabinet weighs approximately 65 lbs and it is easy to think that it’s heavy enough to stand up without falling, but it can become top heavy and tip over really quickly!! I can’t say it any better: if you have small pets or children (or value your feet!) secure this file cabinet to the wall at a stud!!! Last note: Amazon was great about picking up the replacement file cabinet that also had the same screw problem. The only issue I have with Amazon is that it takes a herculean effort to find out how to talk to a person!! Chat bots DO NOT work all of the time because they have a limited script and no ability to reach conclusions! Conclusion: 1 - this is a decent product and seems to be reasonably well made and looks good for a particle board product. 2 - Know what you’re getting into when it comes to assembly; the instructions are illustrations which are easy to follow, and instant gratification DOES NOT work here. 3 - Make your first step an inventory of all parts to make sure you have everything. 4 – from my personal experience, check out the screws and how they are supposed to fit with the drawers. The non fitting parts are the ONLY reason I gave this product a 4 instead of a 5, and even though the manufacturer promptly made it right, I cannot reward mediocrity in quality control with a perfect score.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE 5 STAR reviews
I will quote every other review "34 customers mention "Screw quality" 5 positive 29 negative 22 customers mention "Lock functionality" 3 positive 19 negative Customers are unhappy with the cabinet locks. They say the locks don't...

Space-Saving and Functional, Hardware Could Be Better
Setup is fairly simple just be careful not to install the lower bottom board backward like I did, or it will add extra time to the build. Without that mistake, assembly would have taken about an hour. This item is great for saving space and holds a lot of items. The key works well and functions as expected. However, the circular cam lock pieces that fit into the holes and tighten onto the bolts feel very cheap and can break easily, which was disappointing.

Good for the price
It is a nice cabinet, but certainly some assembly. Color as described and I expect it is pretty durable in this price category

Good product; not a great company or manual!
I'm torn because I like the finished product, but there were some issues and there still is an issue. First, I did not read that this is wood. Not that that matters really. I just expected a filing cabinet to be metal. LOL! Second, there were two issues while putting the drawers together and the only warning you have are the comments! Nothing on the manual while putting it together. Others mentioned the stripping of screws while screwing the lock in on the backside of the front piece of the drawer. (Didn't read those until after I committed the same mess-up). The part of the lock you screw in has 4 very tiny screws on the 4 corners. The middle is lifted, and where the screws go in - it's indented (not as thick). It's hard to explain without pictures. So, if you screw in the screws completely, you end up having it stick up on one side unevenly. When you try to fix it, you've automatically stripped one of the screw holes. This should be in the manual so it does not continue to happen. My advice - do not screw the screws in completely before evening them up and do not screw completely to the board after that. Just leave it slightly lifted and even. ... The other issue with putting the drawers together is the back of the drawers has a weird fit. (Read those comments afterward also.) The piece is thin and just slides in the slots of the other pieces. It seems easy. It looks like it goes one way, but you may end up breaking that thin piece if you force it. I consider myself pretty smart with common sense and putting things together like this, but it took me quite a few minutes to just try and turn it the opposite way (sideways) to just see if it worked. Finally, it did! Again, nothing in the manual or labeled on that part to show which side slides in first. I got a little frustrated. LOL! My advice on this one - if you are having to force it, go ahead and turn it the other way to see if it slides better. Last, but not least, the cabinet included one small ring piece. It is no where to be found in the manual! I had to assume where it went. It happened to perfectly match the outer lock piece to fill in the gap of where the lock sticks out the front of the drawer. The issue - there was only one ring piece and 3 locks! (The pic attached are of the locks upclose to show the difference between the one with the ring and another without)... I contacted the seller through their email. They replied saying they needed a bunch of info because they have multiple sites they sell through and cannot track anything through Amazon. I sent them pictures and the info they asked for. Except they wanted the part number and again - the manual does not even include these ring pieces! After I sent the information (with pictures) (twice!), they never got back to me! Now, my cabinet has one lock with the ring around it and 2 without. Seems easy to send such small pieces, but no one seems to want to help me. Maybe Home Depot or Lowes can help with the pieces since they don't seem to know the pieces to their own products!

Heavy but well designed
Excellent quality....good instructions..no missing parts...enjoyed putting together, but I'm an 80 year old retired engineer😎 Downside .. Heavy ...UPS man could not get up my steps due to boxed weight, knowledge of various fasteners helpful, took me a full day to assemble
