Cozy fireplace smell
I am more inclined towards resin and oil incense than just pure wood, so that's where I'm coming from in this. These are compressed bricks of what I would say is sawdust. They are all packed in a plastic bag together and do shed dust. I burned one like I would burn a cone, on a brass holder. Using a torch lighter they are not too difficult to light and burn well provided you ignite evenly on the top of a vertically standing brick. These give off the aroma of a lit fireplace on a cold dark night. There is very little scent from resins or oils, it's not going to smell like that. It's really just burning wood with a very slightly sweet scent that balsam would give off. I really enjoy it for what it is and I think these are good value for the price if you're into that. I had no problems keeping these lit, they burn right through. They do however give off a lot of smoke. Much more than I'd like in my home, so I probably won't burn these much. But they are good bricks and I did enjoy the homey vibes.

The scent is incredible and you feel as though you’re in the woods.
Absolutely wonderful scent to have it in your home. Little hard to lite, but so worth it. I have been burning this scent for probably 30+ yrs. You won’t be disappointed. I was thrilled to find it here on Amazon. Quality is outstanding and you know it’s natural because it leaves a resin like substance.

LIKE BEING OUTSIDE
I like a little incense when I'm relaxing with a book or meditating but I am really sensitive to most scents. Cone incense gets put out after about 1/4 of the cone because it is so strong & smoky, stick incense is usually about the same. I think part of why the various incense is so overpowering is because my 'me' space is very small - about 4' x 5'. It doesn't take much to fill that up. But these little Alder wood sticks? These are AWESOME! They are small so I don't worry about staying until they are done or dripping water on them like I do the charcoal. They usually burn 15-20 minutes and the scent lasts well enough that if I want to sit for an hour, I don't need to burn a second one. The scent is what gets me though, there are no perfumes or fillers so it doesn't smell like a chemical fire. All I get is clean, light smoke. It's like being at a campfire but not sitting in the path of smoke. The little sticks are not smokeless. There was a little tendril spiraling up but the small room didn't get overly smoky (unlike commercial cone incense that smoked so much I had to put it out and open a window). Later in the evening there is still a pleasant wood smoke scent hanging about. I liked it so much, I just put 2 more scents in my cart.

I have not found another incense that smells this authentic, and is made of such simple ingredients.
Incienso de Santa Fe makes my absolute favorite incense. It smells like a fireplace, or campfire, burning the most fragrant woods. In this case the Fir balsam, also reminds me of the smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree. I started with the sample pack, to try all the different types of wood. I loved all but two types and that’s up to individual taste. So far I’ve purchased two full sized packs since my sample pack, one pinion for summer, and this one Fir Balsam for winter. A pack of one hundred lasts us about two years. The individual bricks can get a bit beat up during shipping. I did return and reorder one pack, that was overly pulverized. The replacement pack arrived in good shape, and I’m happy with it. The only thing that caused me to leave one star off is the holder. I do use them, but the little round depression is extremely shallow, and it can be tricky to get the little brick to stay upright. Others seem upset about getting these bricks to burn. If you live in a humid place, keep your bricks in an airtight container. It does take a minute to get the tops fully lit, but I don’t mind that at all. I hold mine at a slight angel above a flame for maybe two or three seconds then gently blow on the burning edge until it glows brightly. I rotate the brick and repeat until all four edges and most of the center of the top of the brick glows when I blow on it. Then I set the brick upright on the holder. As long as the brick stays upright, they always burn well for me. For some people, small tongs or tweezers might be helpful for lighting and placing the incense brick onto the holder.

Authentic Piñon Scent—Strong, Nostalgic, and Very Real
I can’t fully put into words how much I love this incense. The moment I light it, I’m instantly transported back to my childhood in New Mexico—cold winter nights, fireplaces burning, and that unmistakable piñon scent drifting through the air. The fragrance is rich, natural, and deeply nostalgic. It smells like real piñon wood, not an artificial or perfumed version. That said, it is a strong scent. I personally enjoy burning a whole brick at a time, but anyone sensitive to strong smells may want to start with a smaller portion or be mindful of ventilation. This is absolutely going to be a permanent reorder for me, and I’m excited to try the other incense from this brand as well. If you love authentic Southwestern scents and don’t mind a bold aroma, this one really delivers.

Favorite incense.
This incense smells so amazing. Transports you to a campfire! I like that it’s not soaked in fragrance, and rather the smell is truly the ground sawdust burning I believe. Takes a little effort to light, tilt it sideways and allow the lighter flame to burn it for like 5-10 seconds. Let it burn and self extinguish on its own after a few seconds.

Perfect scent, burns extremely fast.
The scent of these incense are perfect if you want that authentic fireplace smell.. however, they burn entirely too fast, literally about 5 minutes from lighting to pure ash.

I can recommend this for incense
Nice Scent when a natural wood is desired. I've tried their sampler pack before and the wood that I remember enjoying was the Juniper one, and maybe the cedar. I did not have the sampler for long because I wanted to share it with someone else so that they can try it themselves. From that experience with their sampler pack I discovered this juniper incense that I liked. The aroma from these stick around for a while which is a plus for me. I would recommend one try Pain's Basalm Fir incense sticks, those are good and a similar type of incense to this one. Side note; A flower pot base that is ceramic works good for your incense if you're worried about the ashes.
