GMC World Map Review: exactly what i was looking for. - exactly what i was looking for. design could be better though. something more friendly to hold/point. comes with a nice little case also, it is mini usb not even mini or usb-c :-( Review: A very powerful Alpha-capable Counter - I purchased this directly from GQ Electronics back in 2021 when these were fairly new and it was shipped all the way from Washington, USA. Shipping was expensive, but I had to make sure it arrived safely because it's a sensitive piece of equipment; this was proven by having the screen go completely blank after a few months of use. The ribbon cable that connects the screen to the unit had popped out despite not ever being dropped- but this was fairly easy to put back in. It's quite difficult to set up the server connection for uploading live data readings to the global map, sometimes it runs and sometimes it just refuses until the software is restarted. I find the global map does lag quite a bit when there's a lot of data displaying on the screen. As it's capable of detecting Alpha particles, this counter has a much higher "safe reading" where it will idle at around 40-50cpm for background radiation, whereas the GMC 320 will idle around 20cpm. The reading shown in the image is the counter picking up a Thorium-laced "5G Energy protection" sticker, inside a packaging envelope underneath a thick bedsheet, as you can see this is a very high reading for something that is concealed in many layers and the counter does a good job of picking it up.

Chunky
It works fine. I’d like to be able to display cps and not just cpm. My understanding was it detects all three main decay types if not more, but I get a lower reading than with my Radiacode 103 which only detects gamma. There is no spectroscopy on this device.

Contatore geiger misura solo radiazioni ionizzanti del decadimento radioattivo
Contatore geiger eccellente, sonda davvero sensibilissima.

sensitive dosimeter with alpha particles detection
Very sensitive and quick dosimeter with pancake probe. Prepared to catch also alpha particles. I've read many times comparing of dosimeters on reddit, quora and this one is one of the best when considering cost to 500eur. Just plastic is not very robust and device is little overpriced.

Amazing Geiger Counter For The Price Point
Just as the title says, it's an amazing Geiger Counter for the price point. I needed a pancake tube Geiger Counter for alpha detection and this gets the job done wonderfully. It's got a wonderful UI (multiple options on how to display the text and a screen that rotates to fit current orientation), a solid amount of detection customization (including voltage adjustment and accuracy requirements), and even wifi connectivity to upload live data to a server (I don't need it specifically but it's a nice feature to have). You could of course go for something like a Gamma Scout if you need more precision and more detection features. But you'd then be paying double and likely waiting a lot longer to receive it (they were on backorder last time I checked). This however arrived 5 days after I ordered it. Overall, it's a solid detector with a lot of great features, customization, and solid quality for a very affordable price. I'm definitely going to be looking to GQ for any future detector needs.
