Terminator Salvation [Blu-ray] [Region Free] [2009]

Thank heavens they where brave enough to break awy from the tired formua of the last 3 movies. Sure the original Terminator was a classic; and the follow-up was a good sequel; but T3 was extremely poor and cheesey but maybe that was partly becuase they were going over the same old ground. What they should of done in T3 was to break away from the old Terminator-sent-back-in-time routine. From now on; when watching the Terminator series of films you should just leave out T3. The actual makers of this 4th movie have even stated that they made this film as a follow-on from film 2; they have completely disregarded the third film ..... as should we; it was that bad and almost ruined the franchise. Terminator 4 then is a refreshing change from the routine. No longer a film from the prespective of the past (our present) they are now telling the story of the future and mans resistance to the machines years after 'Judgement Day'. What is really clever however is that they have also turned the formua in on itself by making the past come to the present although not through any time machine. The action is excellent without getting too over the top. The scenes with the actual early-version terminators are also impressive .... especially since these earlier models being built before Skynet perfected linking living-tissue too machine; making them look almost like zombies or some super-mutant from the Fallout video-games. Honestly, if most people watch this movie with an open mind they will find a film that lives up very well with the first 2 movies and is a lot, lot better than the 3rd. The acting is decent, theres nothing wrong with the script, its not too over-the-top, the characters are interesting and overall this film is an intelligently achieved break from the tired old fomua. Good film.

This film has taught me to not be put off by bad critical reviews since I was impressed with it and if you love sci fi and have followed the earlier films then I suggest that you can't fail to like this one. A lot of new machines are introduced and also we see the old model T600 terminator in action (I assume the ones that don't pass for human mentioned in T1 with either no skin or rubber skin). The actors who play Marcus Wright and Kyle Reese are excellent and I like the relationship that develops between the two of them as Marcus teaches Kyle some useful tricks. Christian Bale has received some bad press about his tantrum when a guy disturbed his concentration at a crucial point in a take but when you see how he gets so deep into the part that he absolutely is John Connor you can understand his anger at the interruption (especially since I understand that this was the second time the guy had interrupted him). Bale is excellent as Connor and whether by accident or design he sounds a bit like his father Kyle Reese in T1 when his emotions are rising when speaking to his commander. Of course a coach and horses is driven through any time travel rules with Kyle Reese standing next to his older son John Connor but you can forgive that as poetic license in this case since this is such good entertainment. One critic said that there's none of the light relief of Arnie humour in T4 but these people don't seem to understand that sequels have to be different or what's the point? Some surprises / unexpected twists complete this awesome film.

It stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood, Bryce Dallas Howard and Common. Music is scored by Danny Elfman and cinematography by Shane Hurlbut. 2018 and John Connor (Bale) is a key figure in the Resistance forces waging war against Skynet and their Terminator armies. But when Marcus Wright (Worthington) wanders into the equation it clouds the issues, with both men desperate to establish meaning and answers in the war...... The weight of expectation was massive. Spread over a 25 year period and harvesting 3 films, the Terminator film fan has wanted to desperately view the post Judgement Day war between man and machine. Over to you McG; yep, he who directed Charlie's Angels! Box office wise it's a winner of some magnitude, garnering over $370 million worldwide (over $170 million profit), but critics and franchise fans, perhaps inevitably, were decidedly mixed on its worth to the Terminator universe. It's good for me, a fan also of the series, to come to the film some three years after it was released, where the hype or venom has evaporated and the film has finally found a base footing from which to be judged. Undeniably it is some way away from the first two Cameron films, lacking the lesser budget sci-fi grit of part one or the mind bending extravagance of part 2. Better than 3 for sure, but that film still has the best ending of all the Terminator movies. Terminator Salvation is a darn great action movie, in fact it's more a great action/war movie that has dashes of Terminator folklore sprinkled along the way. Gone is the pursuer/pursued structure of the previous films, in place now is a tough guys on a mission adventure story, fast paced and full to the brim of plot and barn-storming action set pieces. There's no easy cop out here either, the makers could quite easily have made one long battle movie between Bale's Beefcakes and Skynet's Super Soldiers, but instead they serve up different conflicts at different points of the apocalyptic compass. With many brilliant new additions to the Skynet's army adding spice to the Cyborg laden stew. This is not just an endoskeleton wasteland, it's a land of Hunter-Killer ships, hulking Harvesters, underwater Hydrobots and Terminator motorcycles. The sci-fi, in design and execution, is quite frankly adrenalin pumping. With the picture set as it is, post the other films in the series, it does have a huge waft of freshness on its side. Yes there's dutiful nods to the past, courtesy of one liners, music and a familiar face in the finale, these are welcome and needed by the fans in fact, but McG's movie stands tall on its own two feet. No lazy remake here, even if the staging of the final dust-up is a series copy. The writers have also imbued the story with darkness, it's as fun as it gets on a visceral level at times, but there's a bleakness, a sadness, constantly hovering in the dry air. It's also a neat trick having John Connor, the future saviour of mankind, not be this super-human guy loved by all, he carries emotional baggage, obviously, but to some of his superiors he is viewed as edgy, perhaps even a hindrance to the war effort? It's a nice thread and harks back to the young Connor's arrogant streak in T2. Cast performances have also proved to get mixed reviews, but now the dust has died down it appears that nobody is bad here. Bale and Worthington make for a nice muscular pairing without pushing the acting boat out, Bloodgood holds her own in kicking ass and dialogue exchanges and Yelchin, who I initially struggled to accept as someone who is going to blossom into the moody and magnificent Michael Biehn version, does a decent enough job of setting Rees up for his inevitable fate. Outside of these main performers, though, nobody gets much of a look in, which in the case of Bryce Dallas Howard's wife of John Connor is a shame. The writers have erred here, for surely she is a critical component of the John Connor character arc? Still, we do at least get a fun, but staple, cameo from Michael Ironside. Terminator Salvation's worst mistake, mind, is to not finish 10 minutes earlier than it did, where the build up and set up for potential sequels is dampened considerably by a mushy tack on sequence, a chance to keep things moody and ambivalent is wasted, seemingly for the popcorn munchers pleasure. It was never going to be an across the board winner, especially for Terminator's staunch fans. Only Cameron coming back could have maybe brought about the film everyone wanted? But this is still a ripper of an action movie, with enough brains and balls to standalone. Awesome Blu-ray too! 7.5/10

Terminator Salvation is a great movie and the number 4 of this saga started in 1984 , mostly it reach its target but make a few errors in my point of view like two Terminator models are more like The Transformers (Motobot and Hydrobot). The story is very good and the special effects are simply amazing also the bonus material are not too bad since the Blu-Ray offer menu navigation beyond what simple DVD can do but you should get your Firmware updated for best viewing experience. If you are a fan of Terminator movies i strongly suggest you get also Terminator 4 : Salvation but you should get also Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles seasons 1 and 2 on Blu-Ray and see another Female Terminator called Cameron. The Sarrah Connor Chronicles get deep inside the concept of who , why and how Terminators have been created something the movies cant achives even when it get a long duration movie get Terminator : The Sarrah Chronicles are 31 Episodes of 45 minutes each. Finally to enjoy all of the Terminators movies you must accept to take the time to view them slowly one at a time and if you look around you Skynet the internet network around us is getting the control slowly of all what we use everyday so maybe not to far away from real .... The Movies in Theaters or TV Series about Terminator cant offer what it is available on Blu-Ray : the bonus materials and total control of viewing experience of course buying is more expensive that rental but if you want to be a movie collector that not too expensive. Also if you buy it before december 2010 you get a free download of the movie from iTunes on Mac and also there is an option for PC Windows Users , i use Mac so get a legal copy on my iPhone and it take only about 5 minutes to download and weight about 1.4 Gb in size.

Ich möchte mich bezüglich der BluRay-Qualität recht kurz halten: Der Ton ist außerordentlich gut und besitzt eindeutig Referenzqualitäten. Das Bild ist sehr gut, jedoch werden ihm sowohl durch die "entsättigte" Farbgebung als auch durch den (bewusst) überhöhten Kontrast sehr deutliche Grenzen gesetzt. Zum Film selbst: Nachdem zunächst James Cameron seine eigene Idee mit Teil 2 quasi mit umgekehrten Vorzeichen nochmals verfilmt hat und auch T3 das Thema - abgesehen von dem sehr, sehr guten Schluss - nur wenig originell variierte, hatte ich eigentlich genug von der Welt der Terminatoren und der sich immer wiederholenden Jagd auf John Connor. Terminator 4 stellt daher eine wilkommene Abwechslung dar. Er geht mutig mehrere Schritte nach vorne, lässt dabei das mehrmals durchgekaute Zeitreisen-Thema außen vor und konzentriert sich vollkommen auf die Darstellung einer apokalyptischen, vom Krieg zerstörten Welt. Schon alleine aus diesem Grunde hebt T4 sich wohltuend von den Teilen 2 und 3 ab. Wer von den Kennern der Filme hat sich nicht schon beim Anschauen der Vorgänger gewünscht, mehr von dieser düsteren Welt sehen zu können, die von Maschinen regiert wird? Voilá! T4 gibt allen Neugierigen die Chance dazu. Nun mag so mancher der eingefleischten Fans aufschreien und das Verlassen altbekannter Terminatoren-Pfade bemängeln: Keine Zeitschleife und kein Bösewicht aus der Zukunft mehr? Zudem wurde (und wird) T4 oftmals für seine abgeblich unoriginelle Inszenierung kritisiert. Ich kann an dieser Stelle natürlich nur für mich sprechen, aber ich bin froh, dass T4 genau so geworden ist, wie er im Kino zu sehen war und nun im Heimkino gesehen werden kann: Ein gradliniger Actionfilm mit hervorragenden Effekten, der in seinen besten Momenten T2 und T3 weit hinter sich lässt: Schnell, düster, dreckig und trotzdem sehr unterhaltsam. Das sind allesamt Eindrücke, die ich nach Teil 1 immer vermisst und erst in Teil 4 wiedererlebt habe. Im meiner persönlichen Rangliste reiht sich T4 hinter Camerons unerreichtem Erstling an zweiter Stelle ein - einfach, weil er das erste Sequel ist, das die Geschichte einmal fortführt, statt sie variiert zu wiederholen. Sorry an alle T2-Fans aber die wenig originelle Handlung (da in Teil 1 schon einmal gesehen), der deplatzierte Humor und die - im Vergleich zu Teil 1 - glattgebügelte und massentaugliche Inszenierung waren und sind mir schon immer ein Dorn im Auge gewesen. Immerhin können die Effekte bis heute mehr als überzeugen.... und als ob das Murmeltier nicht schon genug gegrüßt hätte, schlug T3 leider genau in dieselbe Kerbe. Fazit: Wer einen T2 oder T3 erwartet, muss enttäuscht werden. Wer damit leben kann, dass T4 "ein etwas anderer Terminator" ist, dem könnte dieser Film gefallen. Für mich persönlich gilt: TOP!!!

が、ターミネーター感が薄味？トム・クルーズの宇宙戦争とかゾンビ映画のテイスト味がある。A10が大活躍なのも楽しいんだけど。UHDで見ると暗くて分かりにくいシーンが改善されていて大変良い、評価の改まる佳作。
