I have eight, yes 8, cats. Two adopted within the last six months from SPCA (Sadie and Stanley) and while we only wanted one (because I knew another was coming in a week from a family that couldn’t care for him--Smokey) we found out the little girl we wanted (Sadie) came into the SPCA with her brother (Stanley) and so both had to be adopted together.Upon meeting our fab five, things went really well, really fast. I think that was the shortest separation introduction I’ve ever done. In less than 24 hours the two newbies were fine and our old-timers were, too.But the REAL challenge was going to be Smokey. We do not let our cats outdoors and Smokey was an outdoor cat living with five small lap dogs who loved to chase him. He was the only cat and just tried to stay away from the dogs.He was understandably nervous and jumpy. I knew his introduction was going to be a slow process. I bought two of the Thunderease cat diffusers and within a day or two, Smokey was playing ”footsies” with a couple of the others.I still wanted to keep them separated because rushing it would be bad for all of them. So they remained separated by a bedroom door. After a week Smokey showed signs of wanting to venture out of the bedroom, so I carried him out just to show him what was beyond the door. No hissing, no growling, he was just curious. Same with the others. No hissing, no growling, nothing.Eventually, we started leaving the door open to see what would happen. To my TOTAL SHOCK, our resident *bully wannabe* (Bad Andy) became his BFF. They took naps together on the bed, no hissing, no growling.I noticed it was time to refill the Thunderease so I ordered two. My husband, not knowing what they were, threw them out. ALL H€\\ broke lose within two days!Do they work? Oh yes, they calmed my brood down dramatically. It was miraculous. There is no doubt at all the diffusers created the serenity. The ONLY issue I had with the plugin diffusers was as others have said, they DO get hot while plugged in. I’m really concerned about that. What I ended up doing was unplugging them for a few hours every other day. By doing that it gave the diffusers time to cool off and I DID NOT notice a change from calm to crazy.I didn’t have an issue with them smoking or the plastic plugin melting like some of the other, less expensive, brands.I’m reordering again tonight because after two months without, I may lose my mind! 😂They WORK! I think this is working! We have a new rescue cat that is always playing, day and night, but gets anxiety if we close the door at night. We put a motion activated air can by the door and plugged this in near her bed. After a few weeks of use, she is calmer, snuggling more and sleeping longer at night and not keeping us awake. She hasn't changed, just seems more at ease. I'm so happy to see my little girl settled in and comfortable.I don't like the plug... the prongs are too thin and I had to squeeze them a bit to get the heavy container to stay plugged in, but I have to keep messing with it because the prongs aren't strong enough to support the weight... otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.

In January I bought ThunderEase Cat Calming Pheromone Diffuser Kit because I got adopted by a young male stray cat. I needed him to stop Rough Housing with my 8 year female kitty and within a week it worked PERFECTLY. My kitty played outside and at night snuggled with my old female rather than goofing off all night. So, when it ran out as an experiment I bought Comfort Zone Claming Diffuser Kit. It has NOT worked AT ALL!! In fact it within 10 days it seems to make his behavior Worse! I will buy a ThunderEase Cat Calming Pheromone 30 day refill in March and see if it calms him down. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to buy a Thunder Cat refill until March. But I think I am going to throw out the Comfort Zone product. I will post an update here in March!

using this in the cat litter room b/c my 14yo feline has defecated on the floor for about 8 years. she'll also use the litter box to urinate but will allow a good portion to hit the floor around it. so i have to put 20 pee pads in that room. she'll poop UNDER them. it's so frustrating. at different times in the attempt to conquer her issues, i even had 9/NINE litter box styles with 9 different cat litter types and SHE STILL pooped on the floor.and when i got a new puppy, she peed on the rug where his bed and several of his toys were laying. the "accident" cost us about $400. i wish it were an accident but she is purposeful and intentional. i put her outside and honetly though she should just live there. i can't take cleaning up her mess any more. she's such a stinker. so a colleague suggested the diffuser, and i already use the Thunder Ease adaptil to ease puppy excitement AND curb 11yo dog barking excessively. the shirts work wonders too. but this is not helping my cat to stop messing up that litter box room. for the price, i really hoped to see better results. but it's a learned behavior so maybe it takes longer.

As an amendment to my previous review, I want to follow up with this: if I could give negative zero stars I would.After reading only the positive reviews (foolish me) I bought not only the plug-in device, but several replacements. While the company has been cooperative and thus far, helpful, I find the product to be ineffective, faulty and dangerous.Not only does my older cat (the intended recipient of the product's benefits) continue to exhibit aggressive behavior, but he has become even less tolerant. He now attacks not only our news cat, but the family and friends that he's known since the kitten days.He seems to have a general dislike for the the plug-in and avoids the area entirely.Not only has he injured our new kitten (a reaction that did not exist previously) but he now hisses at our touch and completey avoids the space where we have the plug-in.I'm addition to its ineffectiveness, my two year old niece incurred an ugly, painful burn after handling the device when she took it off of the table. It becomes extremely hot.Our plug-in did not smoke, smolder, or burn, but it very well could have.I want to give good reviews body so badly wanted this product to work for us, but much to my dismay, it failed.
