Original, entertaining and especially great for kids
I agree with the majority of reviewers who have had an open mind and appreciated this for what it is. It's not supposed to be all action mindless destruction - there are already 10,000 of those (and I enjoy some myself). Personally I am glad that there are still some original developers about so we can have something refreshingly different that's also great for kids. My daughter loves the game, as do her friends and they do not feel the need to massacre anything while playing....

Our favourite Wii game to date
I bought this game for my nature loving nearly 4 year old and nearly 6 year and I am so pleased I did. Even though it is rated as a 3 my little one struggled a bit as he hasn't yet learnt to read, and all the instructions are written, rather than spoken, but his sister understood the instructions and between the three of us we have loved swimming in the clear waters, discovering all kinds of marine life. At the end of each underwater session we return to the boat and read through the journal to learn more about the fish, sharks, penguins, dolphins, crabs etc that we have encountered. The kids have learnt about map reading, following a compass and also opening, reading and responding to emails. It really is a fantastic learning experience for all and is sooooo relaxing! There is nothing urgent about it, you have your tasks and missions to do but you do them in your own time. I particularly love the fact you can pet, tickle and stroke the marine life and some of them befriend you and follow you about! The kids refer to them as their 'fishy friends!' The only ONLY negative, if I had to give one, is that the controls are very sensitive and requires minimal movement to direct the diver which is no good for my heavy handed wii remote brandishing son! But thankfully at the moment he is happy to be co-diver and let his sister take the controls! I adore this game - it relaxes the kids, is really educational, has lovely music and sound effects, is simple to play AND you get to swim with dolphins without getting your hair wet. What more could you want??

Rubbish
Whoever thought of this game should be punished. I don't know what it's about, never got the hang of it. Returned it within a few days. I don't know how people rate it even one-star. It should be less than zero. Don't waste your money

no instructions
The game is in good condition but there was no instruction book supplied with it, which makes it difficult to play. Should have been mentioned when advertised

Endless Ocean
The game was ok, but as we have got rid of our Wii game stuff it is no longer used.

BUY THIS NOW!
I bought this for my husband and was a bit worried he wouldnt like it. Was I ever wrong! It is an interesting, informative (but not in an in your face way)and totally absorbing game. It is also quite competative as we are always comparing who has gathered the most marine life in our species book and also who has collected the most artifacts. The graphics are truly breathtaking and very soothing, hours can go by without you noticing! As an added benefit, I was able to identify some of the fish on a wildlife programme recently solely from the use of this game! You take in the information without even realising it. The music is just lovely and you unlock more as you go on. Whoever dreamt up this game is a genius, this is a gem you will be SO glad you found!

Lovely game, but not for hardcore
I think this game is great, but its definitely not for the hard core gamer market. My six year old also loves it, she's played it the most (some 20 hrs in a week). There is a plot to it, and some tasks, but on the whole they are both relatively simple. The fun is finding & identifying the sea life and seeing what animals will turn up on your boat. The "ocean" can get a bit familiar - its all basically tropical reef & white sand - although there are some "features" like a cave, ruin, deep raveen etc. We can all identify a load more breeds of sea life than we could before. Definitely worth the price. Very relaxing to just drift about in the sea for a while after work!

In my search to try to find something different to play on my Wii I stumbled upon this Hidden Gem this is fun and also relaxing game to play you dive down into the ocean discover new forms of sea life, find Hidden Treasures and rare artifacts, take people on scuba diving trips, and so forth and so on you're hired by young woman to explore the secrets hidden beneath the water I got to be honest I have not yet fully completed the game but what I have played makes it an enjoyable and again rather relaxing game to play a nice Change-Up if you get a little bit tired of the typical shoot-'em-up. Graphics aren't bad for the time the games a little bit unrealistic you can just go up to various sea creatures then just pet them and find out all the details about them which seems just a tad silly tickly if you tried to go up to a shark in real life and pet him you would probably use lose your arm but this is a game after all you can take pictures and do all sorts of stuff while exploring various Mysteries I do recommend this game it can be fun there are problems other than just the silly unrealistic proposition of being able to go up to a shark and just pet it and have it fall in love with you immediately the story can be a little bit convoluted taking on a client to take them deep sea diving can be a tad irritating typically when they constantly harass you define the fish that they want to look at even though you're working hard to do it they will not let it go until you find it which can get irritable you just want them to shut up and let you do your job there also seems to be a comical glitch that I doubt was intentional at the end I'm taking somebody diving they wave goodbye to you yet for some reason you is the diver instead of waving back well seems to flip him the bird at least that's what it looks like to me I must admit I busted in laughter when I first saw it again I sincerely doubt that was done deliberately it seems to be a little bit of choppiness in the graphics there's all sorts of other things you can do but I'll let you discover that like pretty much dropping any fish that you find into an aquarium but unless I'm missing something it's not really an endless ocean which is the biggest complaint that can be made you seem to be limited to just a certain section of water large to be sure if you try to go out of the boundary the game won't let you yeah and I haven't finished it so maybe I'm missing something. But there is still a lot to do a lot to see and again it is fun and it's a nice change from just your typical video game you should check it out

I'm 38 so I know that I'm outside the target demographic for most games, and that's been fine with me. I find most video games to be too frenetic and overall not nearly enough fun to justify the investment of time that it takes to master them. The Wii is the first console to actually attract and hold my attention, and this game is the first game I've ever really fallen in love with. I didn't know what this game was about when I first ordered it, but I thought the premise was interesting - basically you take on the role of an oceanic explorer on a boat in a fictional tropical sea. From the very first screen, I was hooked. The game is just beautiful to look at and it manages to walk that fine line - being entertaining and enjoyable to play while also being educational. It's a gentle, relaxing, utterly entrancing virtual deep sea dive. I bought it during an extremely stressful time in my life and playing this game every evening was the perfect way to relax and unwind before bed. I admit, I'm a sap - but when I first came around the reef wall and saw a whale coming towards me through the water? It felt a little....magical. I love this game and I hope that the folks who created it go on to create many, many more such games - for those of us who want more out of our free time than "Point, click, explosion."
