Anyone know the db of the piezo?

I don't have the equipment to measure the exact sound level, but it is very low. It could probably be run thru an amp for more volume.

what are the buttons supposed to do? seems like they just short it to the highest pitch.

left lowers sensitivity ans right raises it. Both together switches to musical mode

The kit maker makes no mention on the schematic or instructions. There are 4 red LEDs, they are "indicator type" and therefore not high lumens, any standard 20mA Red LED would work.
