i just read that a few drops of celtic salt in your water it aids in preventing dehydration. Is this true? And also how does it taste? Thanks!

That's absolutely true. Guess what gets transfused when no blood is available? SEA salt, OR salt water infused with minerals. That's right, folks. Retaining fluid? High blood pressure? Put one grain/one little cube of the unground Celtic sea salt under your tongue until dissolved followed by one cup of water (non-fluoridated is best; fluoride is TOXIC). Repeat with water: for every 55kg or 121 lbs. of body weight, you should drink 2 liters of WATER daily. DO NOT USE TABLE SALT; it contains near-zero counts of minerals, and you need magnesium and potassium for proper water weight and cellular function. That's the miracle of sea salt--it has three forms of Mg. Also, Mg. requires a LOT of water to metabolize, so it pulled the water from the gut, making stools . . . well, less runny. Today's table salt has aluminum to keep it flowing: aluminum! A toxin also used in antiperspirant! High blood pressure is the body's way of forcing Mg. into our blood cells when potassium is too low. So, all 'salt' is NOT created equally. With massive crop production, commercially-grown vegetables and fruits just don't have the minerals they should; it's all been leached out of the soil. Leafy greens especially, should be bought organic or from local growers. Don't add the salt *to* your water if you have problems with your gut; dissolve it fully under the tongue,, then drink the water. If you eat with salt, a product like this ground sea salt is best.

The Fine Ground Celtic® is from France.  It comes from the Light Grey Celtic® just low-temperature dried and crushed for convenience.  Selina Naturally has other salts that come from unique locations like Spain, Portugal, Guatemala, Hawaii, and Mexico, but they are not this salt.

some products say additive free but contain additive to conduct  the free flow of salt  any info re this issue

I don't know what they put in it to make it flow freely but they don't put enough. I had so much trouble getting this salt to come out of my salt shakers I had to stop putting it in them. It was frustrating because it would stick together and clog up the holes and I would have to use a toothpick every mealtime to unclog them. I would only advise buying this salt if you're willing to spoon it or shake it onto your food straight from the bag or from a jar. It does taste good.

How is this usually consumed? Is there any preparation before you consume it?

You can use it during cooking, and to season food at the table.  I also sprinkle it on popcorn.  No preparation is required if you get the fine grind. The course grind is kinda big to use for seasoning after cooking.  You might find however that you use more of this, as it has a milder flavor than traditional table salt.
