Deep sea danger thriller starring Halle Berry. Katie (Berry) is an expert in her field but, after an accident had left a fellow diver dead under her command, she hasn't been able to re-enter the water. As the bills begin to pile up and the bank threatens taking her boat as compensation, her boyfriend Jeff (Olivier Martinez) tells her of an opportunity to lead another shark dive. Knowing that this will gain her financial security and possibly get her career back on track, she accepts. But can she prepare for the hungry terror that awaits in the deep? Review: This ain't no Tuna fish. - If you like films with sharks in them, your going to like this one. It's awesome and you have to take my word for it. It was delivered to me on time and I know that the people involved in getting it delivered to me are brilliant at what they do. The price for this is even better, it's amazing! Review: "FEAR RUNS DEEP" Hmmm! - I don't normally write reviews of "New" films, but this requires one I feel. The DVD itself is excellent. - good Anamorphic print, good colour and sound, and an excellent price (if you are a Halle Berry fan). No extras tho except Scene Choices. But the film itself is a bit of a disaster. It starts well and Halle looks good but it slowly disintegrates into lots of talk and meaningless scenes badly filmed. (The 3 men who are poaching? Why?What? Just edit this whole scene out!). The climax was ruined for me by being filmed in almost complete darkness and with hysterical camerawork, so bad I couldn't see what was happening. Good underwatwer photography could not make up for what promised to be a good movie and because of poor direction descended into almost mediocraty. A wasted oportunity o all fronts, except, just perhaps, for Halle and the underwater scenes and the opening 20' or so. (Oh, a footnote - Nice to see English actor Ralph Brown in a major role, and he too is good.)

โJust stay in the cage.โ [Kate]
This 2012 suspense adventure movie follows marine biologist Kate Mathieson [Halle Berry] and her husband Jeff [Olivier Martinez] as they set about filming Kate free-swimming with sharkโ off South Africa. Naturally it all goes wrong and a year later Kate has separated from hubby and her tour business is failing with her ship close to sinking. With the banks about to shut her down, Jeff comes to the rescue with a wealthy client and an offer he hopes she cannot refuse. But can she overcome her nerves or will the reckless customer cause another accident? The single disc opens to a main menu offering play, scene selection and set-up [2.0 or 5.1]. Choose 5.1 if you can, it gives the underwater sequences more of a scary edge. The film is by no means fast paced, in fact it plods for the first third as it builds the characters and their background. But stick with it, this is more a film about character development, the unpredictability of nature and stunning underwater sequences above all else, which some may find a bit too โNational Geographicโ for their tastes, but the tension builds in the middle and unleashes its full force in the final third. Not an outstanding film, it is entertaining in an evening matinee way and the tension and end sequences are nail biting, but its no Jaws or horror, itโs just very suspenseful. Deserving a bit more than a *** this is a decent **** evening TV movie.

Slow, lethargic and dull. The storyline COULD HAVE been good if not for bad script and bad casting. The film is almost over before any real action takes place. The only thing good about this film was Halle Berry, I wonder though why she even picked up the script for this one. Will surely go down a her big regret, Halle is so much better than this B-movie hell.

Odd
Blu-ray presentation is good but there are no extras whatsoever. The movie is hard one to quantify: too trashy for the chin-strokers and too sedate for the Saturday night crowd. Though well drawn the characters don't have much to do and the story takes a long time to not really go anywhere. The nature photography is terrific - many parts of the film would look at home in a David Attenborough documentary. The film is pervaded with a slightly dreamy atmosphere (maybe it was just boredom) and is slickly made with good production values. If you're after a thrill-ride this isn't it. If you're after something with a little more substance this isn't it either. If you're running a high fever and loved 'Blue Planet' this could be just the ticket.
