Great Product
I'm someone who uses these cutters all the time for cutting pex piping. Until I purchased this product I had been using a cheaper cutter that required precision and sometimes multiple attempts until I got the right cut. Why is it important to get a cutter that gets the cut right the first time? Well, when you're rolling out tens of meters of piping for new construction it's not so much of a problem. But when you're making a repair on an existing line you'll get yourself in a bind if you end up cutting off too much pipe to get it right! And sometimes you're holding the cutter sideways and in certain angles that makes it hard to get a precise cut. With these Ridgid cutters, due to the design of the cutter and and the blade (on my other cutters the blade wasn't set so well -- which was half the cause of the issues) you get a great cut with no skill required. I also like that it doesn't ratchet. Never liked the ratchet ones.

Clean, straight cuts
I used this cutter to make a good 20 or 30 cuts in Pex supply lines. It works flawlessly. The Pex lines I was working with were 1/2" and the blade slipped through them like butter. Hardly any resistance. I haven't used the cutter for anything thicker as of yet, but I'm confident it will do it's job when the time comes. I read another review about keeping the grips locked when not in use - which is a good suggestion - otherwise the spring leaves the blade open and ready to cut. While I was working, I reached for this tool several times without remembering to lock it and almost paid the price.

Solid tool, hard to find blade replacements
The tool was well worth its money. I use it for an entire in ground sprinkler system installation with PVC. So there was a LOT of cutting. About halfway through the blade was starting to dull. This is no fault of the tool, just a fact of cutting that much pipe. Unfortunately, there was no local or online vendor that I could find for a quick replacement. The only thing I found to get the blade replaced was to go to the big orange home improvement store and have it ordered from the contractor area. I didn't want to wait that long. I ended up taking the tool apart and using my water stones that I have for my kitchen knife to sharpen it up and finish the project. It wasn't near as sharp as a new blade, but it got me through the day. Tip: It cuts through 3/4 " PVC pretty easily. 1" can be a bit tougher. What I found to work was to lightly press and twist it around the PVC "scoring" it. It seemed to cut easier that way. Also, the PVC will soften up some if you leave it out in the sun (but this is also not good for the PVC so don't do it for extended periods).

If you are Superman!!!
This item is sturdy and well engineered and feels solid. Unfortunately you need superhuman strength to use it and if you are cutting a lot well good luck with that! I went to Home Depot and saw the Husky tool it has ratcheting and slices through clean as butter..what a great tool feels like cheap crap but works 100 times better than the Ridgid. The Husky comes with a lifetime warranty so I guess that's good Cut about 30 pipes with ease.

Nice cutter
Good tool. It advertises that it's good for cutting multilayered hose. I bought it to cut nylon air brake hose and it does not do a good job at cutting it. Was disappointed in that respect but it is a quality tool.

These are not ratchet cutters they rely solely on hand pressure
Solid good quality and everything but I spent $40 on these only to realize that they don't ratchet so cutting PVC is going to be extremely hard if even doable
