High Life Light Pomade

Nice clean smell and not as oily as others. The hold is good, but you can still run your hands through your hair. Can last for around 2 days with shampooing.

So I'm definitely new to pomades and pretty much hair products in general but I asked my barber for a relatively low maintenance comb over recently and thought I should give some products a try. Started with a matte finish styling paste for a more natural look but wanted a little more gloss on occasion (still something I could re-mold throughout the day). Decided on this since it was a good price, all natural and I saw good reviews elsewhere. Impressed!!! My biggest fear was that I was going to get a tin of Crisco seeing the name "hair dressing" but it's much waxier than I expected. I can use just a little to give it some shape without being glossy or a little more to give it a nice shiny comb over look (never oily and always re-shapable regardless of amount). If you want a look that will retain its shape for the duration of the day I might recommend a medium hold although a good amount of this stuff could probably do it. The scent... I've never been a fan of coconut but the scent is perfect and lasts all day. If I had to describe the scent without using the word coconut it would be a warm summer evening. Just wanted to include that in case the scent was a deal breaker haha. Anyway... 5 stars hands down. Made in the USA. All natural. Great pomade.

Love this stuff! i use it every other day and have been for about 3 months now and the can is still half full. i am mixed (black and white) so my hair is thick and extremely curly/frizzy. this pomade gives me the straight slick look i am going for, with strong hold. after years of looking for a way to keep my hair straight, ive found the solution!

Doesn’t hold and difficult to wash out.

Pomades and their rating of 'hold' are all over the map. I'm gonna come right out and say that this pomade is a HEAVY hold. In fact, I think the next item one step heavier on the Rockwell hardness scale is a wax candle. The hardness of the contents in the tin surpass Murray's Pomade no problem. You could probably drill a hole, put in a wick and burn it like a candle. It even smells like a candle. The smell is a light coconut and it's not sickeningly sweet or anything. I have it in my hair right now and I can't even smell it. This means it passes my smell test. Some of my other Dax produced products give off more smell than I care for. Dax Wave and Groom is my regular pomade so I will compare High Life Heavy to Wave and Groom. High Life Heavy has a higher melting point than Wave and Groom. I have to use my hair dryer to heat my hair up to put either of them into my hair in the morning. I had to get my hair extra hot in order to start combing High Life Heavy through it easily. So where I can barely wear Wave & Groom in the winter, I think High Life Heavy will get left in my drawer until summer time in Iowa. That or I will need to cut it with something to thin it like Royal Crown hair dressing. Otherwise, when I go outside, my hair turns into a wax helmet due to the cold air. I received this pomade in the mail yesterday and it was -3F outside. It's very cold here today and my hair looks good, but it's hard to the touch outdoors. High Life is not kidding around when they say this is a heavy pomade. And it's not going to wash out. This isn't for weekend warriors or sissy boys with only one date penciled into their planner this week. It's sticking with you. In fact, the way I use Dax Wave and Groom is to just keep adding more to my hair as needed. Even after shampooing my hair, that base of lanolin and wax is still in there. And that's how High Life Heavy is going to treat you. If you're looking for Wave and Groom on steroids, here it is! I plan on using it in the summertime when temperatures are in the 80s and 90s. Otherwise Wave & Groom smells great and it's my go-to. If you're new to all this, these old timey petroleum based products are going to ruin your pillow cases with dark marks. Probably even your favorite easy chair. It's a small price to pay to not be stuck wearing lame-o modern products made of alcohol and some sort of rejected vinyl that 3M couldn't figure out how to get rid of. Comb-able all day long. Even tomorrow and next week. I like it!

Good at holding fine hair. I used it for slick back. Will make you smell like a pins colada. I live in phx and work outside, had to stop using as the heat melts this pomade like all others and leaves you with a mirror firehead

Bought this for my husband, who used to use Murrays. LOVES this! Definitely worth the $$. Husband says it has that stick that Murrays used to have. It has a smell of coconut, (yay for us girls) and washes out much easier than Murrays

This will not wash out, but that's a plus for me. I feel like my hair looks better after having the product in for the 2nd day. I have very thick and wavy hair that will not cooperate, but this product has made it much easier. I don't do the hairstyles a lot of people buy this for, but it still works great.

Great pomade, I mix it with others hair products, however works well on it's own. not too sticky and doesn't smell like some can. would recommend.
